Hi :flower: i just posted this in the 3rd tri section but it's probably best suited for this one?

I just wondered if anyone knows the answer to this or have suggestions how to find out?

I've been signed off sick since the end of April, I was working only 6 hours per week on minimum wage. I'm not intending to go back to work & am desperate to hand in my notice but i'm concerned that if i do i will lose my housing benefit? I went to the CAB a while back and they didn't help, they just said 'we don't advise anyone to give up their jobs' i though they were impartial & there to give information?

Any ideas anyone?

I very much doubt you will lose your HB hun, It is there to help if you are on a low income.

To put your mind at rest I suggest ringing your local council and seeing what they say but personally I don't see that you have much to worry about regarding this.

Thankies :) I think I'll ring them tomorrow just to 'enquire' :D
I was just worried they'll do what they do with other benefits if you leave your job voluntarily & cut your benefits for 28 weeks!

Just a quick update :)

I phoned housing benefit on Monday, she said resigning from my job won't make a difference to the housing benefit, which is great but she couldn't quite understand the fact i wasn't getting any other benefits- I explained to her that my bf works 25 hours a week at £6 an hour & that's what we live on (barely!) because we're not entitled to anything else (we've checked on the online benefits checker & CAB) but she kept on insisting i have to let jobseekers know

Anyway i've handed in my notice & waiting to hear from them to confirm it :happydance: and I've let all the relevant people know :)

Hey hun, Just seen your update, Thats great that nothing will change. I agree you should let jobcentre know even if they say no to everything..
