Hi!!
About 8pm my dr rang through to discuss my gtt and me having seen the results thought I had passed or everything was ok but no my 10.7 was a fail :( I also seem to be fighting a losing battle with anaemia but will see what we do about this at the consultants.

So really I wanted to know what your level was and what happens next? My mw, gp and consultant don't seem to e very definitive as to who is in charge of my care!

Thanks girls :)

Oh my not one of you??

Hi honey - my fail after the 2 hour gtt was 10.9

I got the call to tell me on a Friday morning, by the following Wednesday i'd been booked into a different hospital to meet with my new GD specialist team who completely took over my care. I am under a consultant there (but haven't met him yet), i've had a meeting with a dietician, i've got a new GD specialist midwife and a dedicated team of four GD specialists who taught me all about GD and how to test my bloods etc

At the first appointment it was all a lot to take in, especially the daily blood finger prick testing but they will show you everything you need to know. Don't be afraid to ask as many questions as you need to, especially when it comes to the testing (you will probaby get a little black machine that you have to put a new little needle in every day to prick your finger with, another little digital machine that you put a test strip in and stick in the blood from your finger to get your sugar level readings, and finally a little book to write it all down in).

Also, don't faze yourself out with stress, worry and guilt. Now you're diagnosed, you can move forward, diet control your levels and make things better for you and your baby. It IS hard i won't lie, but it's worth it for the health of our babies. The first week or so will be very much trial and error with what you can eat and not to stay within your levels. You'll find it really varies per woman - eg a lot of the ladies over on the GD thread can eat bread, cereals, the odd takeaway etc and still seem to stay below their recommended sugar levels, whereas i can't touch bread or cereal without it sending me sky rocketing... but lioke i said you'll find out all of this through trial and error, which is why it's good to write everything down for a while.

Anyway i'm rambling now - please get in touch if you need any more info or want some help. If your MW/consultant isn't sure what happens now they need a kick up the bum! There should be a specialist team in your hospital or in one local to you who will be taking over everything now. Oooh lastly you should be scanned at 28 weeks, 32 weeks and 36 weeks, it's general practice - don't let them forget this. :hugs:
