IF you have had IVF, have you used these drugs? how are they?

Hey ya'll. This is the meds list I received for mini IVF (the mini part meaning that it is low drug dosage) This seems like a lot of drugs to me though.

Please tell me if you've been on any of this:

1. Ganirelix 250 mcg
2. Cetrotide .25 mg
3. Menopure 75 units - inject this one
4. Ovidrel 250 mcg
5. Estradiol 2 mg
6. Progesterone 200 mg (60 tablets)
7. Clomid 50 mg
8. Yaz 28 mg

I have been on some of those.
1 & 2 are antagonists - prevent you from ovulating before they can take the eggs (don't know why they have you on both - it is usually one or the other).
3 is a FSH/LH drug (one of the stim drugs).
4 is hcg which will cause your eggs to go through final maturation before retrieval.
5 is estrogen - some RE think it can help
6 progesterone you need after the retrieval.
7 I'm guessing they are using clomid as a stim drug (I am not familar with mini IVF - I have to be on high stims just to get a few eggs).
8 is bcp to shut your ovaries down the month before.

Hi honeycat (love that name!)

Well, I got this call from the pharmacy that they have all this on hold for me, but today I went in for an appt and it turns out I will only be using clomid and menopure (thank goodness, I was a bit intimidated by this list)

Mini ivf is this RE's system of minimally stimulating the body to bring about one good egg as he believes in single egg transfer. He says I'm a good candidate for this so I'm hoping for the best with it. Just doing egg retrieval first and seeing about IVF down the road.

I have used menopur and didn't notice any side effects really. Side effects with the menopur were mostly at the end of stimming when my ovaries were full and I felt bloated. But, the medication itself wasn't bad.

I didn't use cetrotide. I used Lupron and I had horrid headaches with it. Hopefully, cetrotide will be different.

Ovidrel should just be your trigger shot and I didn't notice any side effects with that.

Clomid, I hated it! I had headaches, hot flashes, dizziness. Take it at night if you can so you can sleep through most of the side effects. I found that helped a lot.

Yaz is just birth control. So, symptoms definitely vary.
