If you see "Leah" would you say 'Lee-ah' or 'Lay-ah'? Also a few other choices?

Brooke Leah
Brooke Harmony
Harmony Brooke
Harmony Leah

(Surname: Chapman)

What do you think?

xx

HIya, I would promounce it Leeeee ah for definite. Lovely name, was on my short list

xxx

I love the name 'Leah' and I agree with the others, I'd pronounce it 'Lee-ah'

Thanks girls... just found out it is one of the character's names in the Twilight series... does that mean it is really over popular at the moment??

I would prefer it if my LO is the only one with the name in her class.

How fussy I am :dohh:

but then again my second choice is Brooke and that is popular at mo too. :dohh:

xx

It's not that popular! Not like Harry Potter or anything plus, Leah is a fairly useable name. There might be another girl in the class with the same name but I don't think it's going to be 2 or 3 in each class like some names! It's not like you'll be calling her Hermione!

Id pronounce it Lee-ya, and i prefer Leah Brooke from your list xx

i think itsa lovely name and definitely pronounced lee ah they was a girl in my class called lay ah and hers was spelled leia like princess leia in star wars lol. i love harmony though too

I've only heard Leah pronounced "Lee-uh" -- Love this name, so pretty!

I'm not a Twilight fanatic -- only saw the movies one time -- but i don't recall a Leah? Prob not a main character, right??

I really like Leah Brooke -- i think this name wont be overly popular!

I just checked on the US social security site... it is gaining in popularity in the US. In 2000 it ranked 96... in 2006 it ranked 69... and in 2009 it ranked 28.

Thank you  I know they say not to choose or deny a name based on popularity but it does niggle in the back of my mind. Don't think it is a main character in the series so don't think it has been made popular through that. It does seem to have gained in the rankings but I guess that is just because it is such a lovely name

I just got a warm fuzzy feeling when I came across it and though "ooh, my LO may have a personality and a name to match it soon" :cloud9: (I think Leah Brooke is my favourite too)

I will put it past OH at some point but I figure i get first say as I've done most of the work and he hasn't put in any suggestions for names so far

xx

lee - ah
i have a leah, she is 9 now and the name does appear to be growing in popularity more recently

i have heard it pronounced lay-ah, in fact my leahs riding instructor calls her layah all the time but i think it is just her weird accent lmao

I have only seen that pronounced" Lee"- and thats just an alternative spelling

I would pronounce Leah as Lee-ah

Leah Brooke is my favourite in your list :)
