So I am looking to TTC #2, I have a son who is a year old, but I had to go to a fertility specialist to conceive him. My cycles seem to be 23 days on average with spotting 2 days before, i charted my temps and according to when it says I ovulate, I only have a 6 day LP. I tried OPK's and I didn't really see a clear LH surge (there was a day where the line was darker but not a real positive). So it appears that I definitely have to go back to the fertility dr. again for ovulation and progesterone issues, but now that I have my son it complicates things. I work full time and I can only drop my son off at his sitter's house at a specific time, so i would have to make sure I am in monitoring appts no more than a half hour otherwise i would be late to work, which I cannot guarantee. It is ok if I am late one day, but since monitoring could be several times a week, this could be a problem (and I can't let them know whats going on either at work). The other option is taking him with me for an extra early morning appointment, then take him to his sitter afterwards, but if i do this i feel like i am being insensitive to other ladies that are there ttc #1... so i was just wondering if you have children and go to the fertility dr. how you manage? thanks!

I tend to nip away from work or start late as I have the same thoughts of taking a small.child to the fertility department.

However at the same time it probably wouldn't really be an issue, lots of people need help, and lots of people would like more than 1 child.

You could ask.the clinic for their views? Im sure your not the first or last with the same problem.

Some clinics have a policy against bringing small children, but if your clinic doesn't then you just have to do what you have to do. My clinic is okay with children, and I've seen a couple of women wait right outside of the office instead of the waiting room with their kids.

is your partner able to look after him on alternate days? you could also check with the clinic if they're okay with children there and hopefully it'll be okay.

This is a really tricky one. I totally understand your dilemma....but as a woman trying and struggling for no 2 after losing no1 at 26weeks.....I would be very upset to see a baby at the fertility clinic.

That said, I don't really know how you can get around the problem, unless as pp said you can try and nip out of work whilst baby is with a sitter. Most employers are understanding and you don't have to tell them what the issue is just that you have a medical issue that will require you to miss some work, but you have arranged it so that you miss the minimum time possible. Someone else would just go in the middle of the day!
