Im doing a candy buffet...HELP!

Its my mums 50th birthday party next saturday night.
Theres a food buffet, a 6ft chocolate fountain, a desert buffet and Im in charge of doing a candy buffet!
Damn I get the best jobs

Me and my step-dad are going to a sweet warehouse next week to buy!

What should I get?
I'd go for what I like, so I need different opinions here!
I need about 10-15 different varieties.

Although I think the cola bottles/love hearts will be incorporated into the haribo!
I need things that'll look pretty in glass vases and aint too messy!

Well, you could get mini glass jars and do a jar of sweets for each table? like old school favorites, like rubarb and custard and stuff, then on the buffet one have like lots different things x

Them little hard sweets you can get from like proper sweet shops, are they pips or something? they look nice in glass jars my sister brought me some back from a school trip, yummy they was x

I love old school retro sweets, real corner shop ones like sherbert saucers, refresher bars and butterballs. Could you get some of those multi coloured swirly round lollies?

And a couple of others I cannot remember off hand.

If it is for your mums party I would google sweets from when she was a child and get a few of those!

Oooo yum. I had one at my wedding and tried to have a few old school hard sweets and jelly junk. We had rubard and custards, pear drops, rosey apples, chocolate coins, love hearts, lips, sour cherries, candy sticks (easily the most popular on the night), some foil covered chocolate balls, mints, marshmallows and M&Ms.

M&Ms, candy sticks and the wrapped ones were really good as they don't get sticky in the jars.

Get to a market or car boot sale at the weekend!!! Different places around here almost always have a sweet stall and they always have all different kind of sweets!!

You can pick up lots of different bowls,vases and things to put them in at the market and pay next to nothing for them too!!

Palm Violets were always a fav for me!!! i loved the colour of them!! Love retro sweets!!

We had one for our wedding too, we had things like:

Haribo hearts
Flying saucers
Jazzies
Foam strawberries
Smarties
Jelly beans
Milkshake bottles

and a few more I cant remember. I got my jars from ikea for 99p each and the scoops were from ebay for about the same price. We also had pink stripy paper bags for people to put them in. Pics a bit rubbish but you get the idea x

id get the retro one too like the big lolly sweets, sugar canes, bon bons, fudge, long marshmellows, the stuff in the tubes lol. if you wanted fancy and was willing to spend id go thorntons or somewhere like that and buy the miniature designed chocolates like truffles, fudges etc they are lush and look rlly pretty
