Hi everyone,

We have a DD who was conceived naturally on the second cycle.

We have been TTC since November with no luck. We met with a specialist last month who had us do an SA as he suspected that DH may have some issues as he has recently been on new medications due to his Crohns. Well, as it turns out he has low motility, morphology and a low count.
I am looking for advice and support. Anyone else with super low numbers conceive naturally?
Af just arrived and I think this makes this my 9th failed cycle. :(
I'm so worried that we will need Ivf which we can't afford, does insurance cover any of it?
I'm terrified to go through this!
Any advice would be helpful.

Hey Rebecca, we have been trying since September... Did have a mmc in December after conceiving in October and have now been trying since then... We are trying for our first but have our first fertility testing day late July. It's scary stuff... Not sure what our issue is yet. At least you know, and can hopefully get some good advice on proceeding without Ivf....maybe iui is an option? It's less expensive than ivf.

Thanks for replying, I feel so alone! I was at the park yesterday with a bunch of my friends and their kids and I kept thinking like they have no idea what I'm going through. I was playing with my almost 3 yr old dd and some of them had newborns or were pregnant.
Good luck with your appointment, ya this really is scary.
im really confused about the insurance aspect. Do they really not cover treatment?

Where do you live?? I live in Canada and our private insurance covers some treatments... I just really want to know and start making a plan. I really didn't expect to have any problems you know, like obv we all don't! Both my sisters easily got pregnant.

Chicago.
Lucky you, I hear IF treatments are free in Canada, to some extent.
My family doesn't have any fertility issues but due to DH's medications and treatments I think that's what happened to his sperm. Especially since we conceived dd so quickly.

One of round of ivf is covered for certain diagnoses in Canada. Alldiagnosistic testing is covered which is nice. Just want it to be july 30 so we can start the process

We're meeting with the RE Monday. I'm so nervous I can't stop thinking about it.
July 30 seems like a long wait, sorry that you need to wait that long!

Original date was August too but luckily we got a cancellation. And I had to beg my family doctor to even refer me, she wanted us to wait longer but I am just too overwhelmed I can't do it anymore without knowing. I am wondering what testing they will do... Did you under go all testing??

I actually did not have any FF testing done, only the one semen analysis. We all kind of had a feeling that that was likely the issue.

Oh at least you knew. We have no clue! I want to blame dc because everything was fine prior too, I got pg right away with mmc just so sad and frustrating.

So disappointing and upsetting I hope you get a clear understanding of what's going on and maybe it's an easy fix. I'm so nervous about Monday's appt with RE I couldn't stop thinking about it this whole weekend.

I know, the entire process is so consuming. It's all that is ever on my mind.

Just saw my doctor today and we will be doing IUI next month. I am relieved bec I was told my insurance covers up to 15,000. Which is 3 iui cycles and 1 Ivf. However they only cover 15k per lifetime and then I maxed out.

Hi Rebecca,

I am also going through the same situation as you are but have been on my journey for a while longer so I'm hoping I can give you some insight into what has happened for us.

We also have a DD who we conceived on our first cycle and decided to try for baby 2 24 months ago. After 8 months of negatives we went to our doctor for routine tests which came back as low counts, motility and morphology. We continued trying naturally for 4 more cycles and my OH was put on a drug called Tamoxifen which was thought to raise his numbers but after 4 months his SA results were pretty much the same. I was then put on clomid in the hope of more than 1 egg being released and after 6 more negative cycles we've now been told that our only hope would be IVF with ICSI.

We are in the UK and because we already have a child it's costing us almost 6 thousand pounds. We are due to start in a few days time.

So for us personally trying naturally hasn't worked. With low motility the odds are that the sperm isn't going to reach the egg. After 24 cycles for us every one was negative.

If I could give you any advice it would be to look into IVF :(

Wow sounds like you've been through a lot! I appreciate your post and it's comforting to hear from you as someone shares my struggles.
Have you tried IUI? I'm doing IUI with femara and trigger shot.
I also had an HSG ultrasound Tuesday and had something that looked like scar tissue. Just had a hysteroscopy done today to remove the scar tissue and a polyp. This month we will be monitoring and next month we will begin treatment. I am only going to do 2-3 IUI's I don't think we need to waste our time of it is not going to work. I have also heard of doing Ivf with Icsi. When do you plan to start with Ivf?
Sorry you're going through this, because it sucks!
