I'm so upset now!

Hannah had a paeds appointment today and the doc has upset me sooooo much AGAIN!!

For the 4th week running H has "only" gained 4oz. She is still on the 9th centile line and is smiling, cooing, holding her head up. She was 6 weeks early but she is doing everything she should be. The doc is now trying to get me to start weaning her. She is 16 weeks and weighs 9lb 7oz

I walked out of the hospital in floods of tears! They still won't discharge and I still have to have the bloomin midwife come to my house every week to have her weighed!! Think everyone is sick of hearing me moan now!

Awww I'm sorry I think you sould stick with your gut, if you think she's fine, and it sounds like she is since she is meeting all milestones, some babies are just small. I don't think weaning would help any anyways, if you mean onto solids, not off breast? but babyfood has very little calories, breastmilk has much more plus more nutrients, that's going to help her put on the weight more than purees will

If she is following the 9th centile then i wouldnt worry you are obv doing something right if shes a happy healthly baby shes just smaller than some,
I dont think weaning will be the magic answer the Dr is looking for Dont do anything your not happy with you will only regret it later

i am so sorry to hear that, thats awful, she is gaining weight and reaching her milestones, surely they see you are doing the best and know that weaning her carries its own risks

They are being silly. If she was a preemie on top of being a petite baby, why are they not taking that into consideration? Seems odd to me.

So sorry love. My best friend's little girl was always in the 2%, and that is just how it was, she was just teeny tiny. Stick to your guns love, you are her mama and know what's better for her. Look at Brenn going from the 25% to the 95%, and that is pretty much with just breastmilk at a stage when most babies are being weaned off milk. Breastmilk ROCKS!!!

Because her birth weight was so big, she was 7lb at 34 weeks. Even though she dropped down to 5lb 9oz in the hosp scbu and was then sent home without sorting it out first. So I got her home and I had low supply too. Basically it was a nightmare and we have been battling it ever since. Her weight has gone up every week for the past 11 weeks altogether and still they won't leave us alone!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

omg i cant believe that even tho she's not dropping off her line, she's gaining steadily, they're still after blood!! christ she's a little baby! i'd tell them where to friggin get off!! you're doin a fab job hun xxxx
