I'm worries there's something wrong with my daughter.

Jesus, I just can't believe they're not doing anything. I would be tearing my hair out. I think I would probably demand a referral to a paediatrician at this point, or just go private, and beg them to investigate. Something clearly isn't right - how they think they can know better than a child's own mother is beyond me.

It sounds so frustrating and upsetting!

It's possible you've ended up in a vicious cycle where illness reduced her appetite and now not eating enough is making her tired which makes her not want to eat.....

Is she taking vitamins? Would she have smoothies if you made them, as that would be good way of getting fruit, veg and calories into her?

I am usually against people using A&E unless it is an emergency but at this point I'd be tempted to go in and refuse to leave till they ran blood tests.

She has taken vitamins since she was little so no more can be done in that sense. She will snack on fruit but since she's not eating much else she just ends up needing to poo constantly which gives her a sore bum. I'm utterly convinced she is anemic so try to give her as much iron as I can. she is so pale and bruises really easily so it's a possibility. When my son was admitted I had a quiet word with the doctor there who questioned diabetes but she was checked for that when she was one and it came back clear. he agreed with the anaemia possibility but said it would have to be requested by the GP. Our GP said it is too invasive to do a blood test on a thought. Grrr! xxx

I am utterly disgusted that there is clearly something not right with your daughter, but these so called medical professionals keep shrugging it off as 'viral'!

Obviously I'm no expert, but I agree with you that it could be anaemia. All it would take is a simple blood test to confirm and then she could be treated. I don't understand why they won't do one? And heaven forbid if it turned out to be anything worse, and they're just ignoring your concerns. Do you have an out of ours service where you are? I'd be ringing them on a weekend and trying to get an appointment, see if they handle things differently to your GP. On top of that, I'd be looking in to changing practices as I'd completely have lost faith in them by now.

I'm going through a slightly similar situation, in that my son has had a medical issue for a year now that has still not been resolved. We took him to the GP in February 16 after we noticed lumps in his neck (one quite large) which weren't just flared up because he was ill, and don't go down. He has seen a consultant twice, had an ultrasound, been to the ENT clinic and was supposed to be having a fine needle biopsy. This was never done and he was last seen at the hospital in August! We've just now got a consultant appointment through for 1st Feb, so I'm hoping we may get some answers soon, and nothing sinister has been going on and not been dealt with.

I hope you get some answers soon and you can get your daughter back up to full health. It must be so awful for you seeing her like this and nothing you can do xx

White poop is concerning, especially when combined with everything else. It can come from intestinal illness or liver failure. She needs blood work immediately. https://www.seattlechildrens.org/medical-conditions/symptom-index/stools-unusual-color/

Your instincts are right--she needs to be examined thoroughly. I'm so sorry you're going through this with your health care "professionals."

Have you mentioned the constant pooing to the dr?
My DS was much younger but last year became tired a lot and was refusing a lot of foods and losing weight. The HV was great at contacting dr to update his weight loss and presumably push for referral and once referral was through chasing it up for us. He just needed blood tests to find out what was wrong, he's coeliac and it took a long time to get his food intake back up but now he's a different child.

Im not one to go to the hospital easily but if she is like this consistantly id head to A&E just say your getting nowhere with the GP and your extremely concerned, they cant turn you away and its not as if you havnt tried other methods

Sorry that your LO is still not right! I would definitely be seeing another doctor or even go private especially with the white poo...

Just another story to show how useless doctors are..I'm in no way suggesting that this is what is wrong with your LO just thought I'd share.

When my cousin was about 18 months (15 years ago) he wasn't really gaining any weight or growing and was being sick very regularly, this went on for quite a while and my aunt took him to the doctors loads of times and they at first said it was viral every time she went except once when they said she was projecting the stress of her cancer on him (she was in remission from breast cancer) , wouldn't do blood tests or any further investigation, after about 6 months of this going on nothing had changed, he hadn't gained weight or grown, she took him back to the doctors and they called social services because they thought she wasn't feeding him etc, social services obviously found this wasn't the case... then one day he threw up so much she took him back to doctors as an emergency and there was a locum gp on, he listened to my cousins chest and said that the issues he was having were obviously to do with his heart problem, my aunt was shocked as she knew nothing about a heart problem, turns out his heart was in the wrong place and his stomach was in his chest cavity, also one of his lungs had never inflated.. no previous doctor had realised this and it wasn't picked up on her pregnancy scans.. he was in great ormand Street being operated on within a few days he is 17 now and 6ft and perfect weight.

Just goes to show how utterly useless some doctors can be!

wow that is an experience, glad everything was OK in the end.

I've decided to write down everything so I can show the doctor. So going to note what she eats, when she sleeps, what activities she copes with etc. Might sound silly but at the desperate stage now xxx

Keep at it- you need to get some answers. I'm so sorry they are pushing you aside. I would be so worried!

Hey, thanks for asking!

We have put her on a different diet so lots of iron rich food, changed her vitamins to liquid for better absorption, stopped all things like water with sweetners and diluting juice so she has fruit juice or water and so far she is better. I am now 100% she is anaemic. I don't want her on tablets so I just need to make sure she has a balance diet to ensure she gets an much nutrients and iron as she can. obviously I will still give her a multivitamin but I don't want to go down the route if prescription medication. We have managed time at the park without crying, and even trips to the town for hours without problems. She does still use the pram but I'm now not dreading her starting nursery in August as she seems to be OK. Xx

Ah that's so great. :D Shame you never received any actual help though. :/

Glad to hear things have improved, well done for working it out and making those changes, onwards and upwards!

It's a little disappointing that the doctor wasn't interested but at least she's ok. I really don't like the staff there so still moving to the other as soon as it opens to new patients.

I actually cannot believe what I have just read and how your doctor has managed all this. Absolutely appalling .

Never worry about the amount of times you take your child the GP. I dont anyway . That's what they are there for. Ive had to push and be very firm with my doctors over DD2. (Shes just been diagnosed with having cows milk protein allergy.)

I am happy for you and your little girl that things have now turned into a different direction and shes feeling much better! . Hopefully she will be a much playful happier girl ! X
