Ended up having an amazing homebirth all was great but started habing problems with feeding him as he was too sleepy to latch on. So ive been expressing for him. Midwives were a bit concerned as he seemed dehydrated and jaundiced so i went into hospital to get help and suddenly they think he has an infection in belly button :( theyve taken him away from me to give him a drip and i feel so sad like its all my fault. Everything was so great at first and now we have to stay here till tuesday. I hope hes ok. This is so worrying. Didnt expect problems with my 9 pound 7 baby. Has this happened to anyone else? What was the outcome?

Didn't have any probs except slight jaundice making lo a bit sleepy but didn't want to r&r. Hope your lo is back with you soon and getting better. Hugs, it must be tough to be away from such a new lo xxx

huge hugs hun i am sooo sorry this has happened to you but wee man is in the right place and it is in no way your fault i wish i had some answers to you but all i can say is i am sure he will be back to full health soon being a big boy, he'll be fine sorry your apart from him thats the worst of it all :( after i had james he was taken away for over 4 hours before i got to see him when i did i just broke down because it had been so hard on me :( can relate but can't imagine what your going through hope someone on here has some answers xx

Big hugs hun your lil man is in the right place to get better. Ive had ivy-mae in hospital 3 times since she was born and she is 15 weeks but i cant imagine what your going through. Hope your lil man gets better soon and let us know how you get on xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

:hugs:

My daughter was jaundiced and super sleepy because of it. It was quite a job in the first month to keep her awake long enough to feed. Fortunately once the jaundice clears out, they get better quickly.

Are they going to do photo therapy?

:hugs: hun.

This happened to Ava too, and she was 7 lb even. She was really Jaundiced being born too... they gave her photo therapy and very frequent feeds, and she was alright.

You are at the right place, and good thing they caught the infection!! He will be better in no time!!! :hugs:

I hope he is back home with you soon :hugs:

He'll be back with you soon and in better shape. It wasn't anything you did. Some babies just need a little encouragement. And at 9 lbs he's got some wiggle room. :hugs::hugs:

Thanks for your replies! All is looking great today...hes feeding amazingly, jaundice not needing light trearment, infection improving already :) feel so thankful to all the brilliant hospital staff. Phew! He looks so happy and content now but also much more awake!
