I had the mirena coil fitted on the 23rd of January after suffering a miscarriage. The doctor said it was safe to do this even after having an ERPC. My problem is that i was still bleeding badly, when i went for my checkup the coil is no longer in place (so its fallen out)? I am not going back on BC i dont know when it actually came out but will my fertility have returned normal by now. As myself and my partner are going to give the clomid another go :) Thanks for any answers and sorry it is so long..

I do t know if it fell out, is it an actual coil? Where did it go? Dont they need to find it or does it come out naturally? I've never ever been a fan of bc myself. Messes up cycles, hormones, I don't know just seems sketchy to me personally.

So what do you do now that it fell out? Is it just up there somewhere lol?

Have you had an ultrasound to check for the placement of the Mirena ? That is the ONLY way it can be determined if it is in or not in. IUD's dont generally just "fall out". I went to have mine removed after over 4 years and they couldnt find it. What they MEAN was they couldn't see the strings, but the ultrasound showed it was right there. Due to the cervical positions they can't necessarily see the strings, but when i went back after the ultrasound the strings were "right there" (same Dr as well).

You really will need to go for an ultrasound to confirm if the IUD is in place or not. It it supposed to sit at the top of your uterus, and you may continue to bleed the entire time it is in place (as in continue to have a period). Also you may still have a long bleed due to your miscarriage

Im also a bit confused as to why you would have a long term IUD put in place, but then be ready to TTC again ? IUd's are long term (5 years in the case of Mirena) birth control and really need to be put into place for at least 3 years to cover the cost of them

Im not certain. They didnt say it had fallen out. But they did say there is a possibility that my body has expelled it and with my cervix still been quite open that this was the most likely outcome. I am going down to the hospital today for a gynae appointment and to be scanned to see if it has been expelled. As for the "snardiness" of your comment about TTC again, i thought i had the strength to put aside trying for a baby. As soon as the coil was in place i knew that i wasnt, but due to a very pushy doctor who almost forced me to say yes, i made the wrong decision. So do not judge when you do not know the facts! Thanks

I dont understand why you'd think i was judging. I was simply curious as to why you would put in a LT BC when you wanted to TTC. The answer you stated was "a very pushy doctor", thats fine. I also suggest perhaps you look into getting another doctor with whom you're more comfortable with... if you're at all able. It's very important to be able to have a good relationship with your doctor to avoid problem such as that. It's never a Doctors job to tell you what to do with yourself (generally speaking, there are rules of course - we'd all listen if our baby was in danger and the Dr suggested a c-section as opposed to continuing labor), but only to suggest what they feel is best. Im sorry you were pressured.

Please let us know what the scan says. It's quite possible to expell the Mirena, but i believe the chances are low, im interested to see if it's still there or not.

Also the removal is SO much simpler and less painful than the insertion !

Im sorry that i took your comment the wrong way. I just thought id be able to come to terms with everything. Carrying on trying is the only thing that kept me going :/ Stupid i know but i just think about it and wonder if i dont try try try then we will never give our son a brother or a sister! If that makes any sense. I had a scan, they couldnt actually see anything and said that they believe my body expelled it. I didnt actually know this was possible until today. Ive had a problem since my son was born though, although cycles returned to normal extremely quick and i didnt have a natural birth. Ever since my cervix has never been closed properly. Ive been having regular appointments at clinic for a speculum exam each and everytime as my cervix wont close past 2-3 cm :/ I dont know if this is a cause for concern but thats the whole reason i mc last month..
