my first was induced with just pit- i couldn't compare it to anything since he was my first. i didn't get an epidural.
my second was induced with mizoprostal- it must have been a giant dose, maybe similar to a dose they'd give a 20 week abortion. i was 1 cm and 4 hours later, after riding near constant extreme ctx, i delivered her. no epidural bc i thought labor was going to get even harder and last longer.
my third they did the mizoprostal but it only served to dilate me over night. pit was admin in am and it was hard but SO much better than my second labor. no epidural.
my fourth i had a water birth and it only got intense for the 30 minutes prior to his delivery. no inducting chemicals no epidural. it was NICE
my 5th was a c-section
my 6th was an induced vbac so they had to take it EASY. mizoprostal is contraindicated in vbacs so they went slow with just pit. it took FOREVER but was very manageable.
my 7th was an uninduced vbac- very gentle with no crazy pit transition with the shaking and the shivering i had experienced in all my pit labors. it was a nice labor- just mentally tough considering all the special needs my baby was going to exhibit.
so- it all depends how they administer what they are giving you. what the doses are, how your body reacts, etc.
