39 week appointment yesterday... My Dr. stretched me to 3cm dilated after sitting at 2cm for almost 4 weeks and said that I am completely effaced. If nothing happens naturally between now and Monday I am scheduled for induction with my Dr. at 6am on Monday, December 30th... Don't know how I should be feeling about a possible induction... What is the process like? Should I be worried?

How far will you be on the 30th, don't rush into an induction, if you can wait a bit longer and go into labour when your body is more ready than your labour will prob be more straight forward and hopefully not too unpleasant.

Do you have any medical reason for induction? Drs generally don't do them unless they feel they have to.

No experience here but I am declining an induction as my Dr wants me to have one but I don't feel I have a good medical reason.

I will be 40 weeks 2 days on Induction day. I am currently 3 cm dilated, completely effaced, and his head is engaged but contractions are not starting at all. Doppler has consistently ready read between 130 and 134, at my appointment on the 23rd of this month it read at a 122 so his rate is dropping. They actually worried me cuz they had 3 different nurses check it and then my Dr. checked it again...

You could ask them to just continue monitoring, I would have thought if the heart rate was an issue they'd have induced you on the spot. 2 days over isn't really giving your body the time to do what it should do naturally, perhaps you can have a chat with your doctor and see if its possible and safe to wait another week and just monitor but closely.

I was induced with my little one, to be honest it causes the baby more stress to be induced as it's not labour that's started naturally, if you can hold of induction a little bit longer or maybe ask to be monitored a few times before to make sure it's something that would be better for baby then I would.
Induction it self is ok I have nothing else to compare it too, so I couldn't tell you if the contractions are worse or anything.

I'm guessing you're in the US! This wouldn't happen anywhere else. There's no medical reason for induction so I would wait until your body is ready, not your doctor.

I wouldn't have the induction just yet unless baby is in distress

Was scheduled to be induced 12/30 and low and behold the little guy decided to come on his own. Contractions began 12/29 as we laid in bed anticipating the coming morning. Arrived at the hospital at 6:30am and Logan Charles Petrucci was in our arms at 9am and weighed in at a whopping 7lbs 1oz. Want to give my doctor Karenna Dickerson and Midwest Centers for Women's Healthcare in Park Ridge, IL a huge shout out!!

Unless it's just necessary bc you're high risk, I'd wait. I got an induction with my first and wish I hadn't. I felt pressured by them to fit their schedule. I won't get another induction. I was at the hospital for 24 hours before I even had my son. Got no rest so I was exhausted when pushing. Not trying to scare you, I just personally hated it and feel doctors are sometimes too impatient.

Just read you had your baby. Congrats and glad you didn't have to through anything you didn't want to!
