Hello

My DS suffers from silent reflux and he has been prescribed Infant Gaviscon, this seemed to work wonders for about a week but now the effects seeem to be slowly wearing off! I have to feed him now little and often as he will scream in pain after taking between 2-3oz's. He is settling much easier after the feeds this way and is gaining weight however I hate to see him struggle with his feeding like this.

Has anyone else experienced this and has their GP helped?, I am going back to the GP tomorrow to discuss the infant gaviscon and am really hoping she will suggest something else however I have a feeling she won't cause he is gaining weight and there has been a slight improvement?

If Gaviscon isnt working, the doctor MUST prescribe something else. Your child is in pain, and just because he is gaining weight doesnt mean to say hes not suffering still.

Gaviscon is only the first step, there are other medications and formulas to try, sometimes it takes a certain combo to work. It took us a few months but we are finally almost free from it.

Hi there, my LO suffers from reflux and my GP prescribed Domperidone which stops the food coming back up the wrong way and he is on cow and gate comfort milk, which is really helping, they have to increase the dose of the domperidone as they get bigger, but it really works, Joshua is so much happier. The doctor told me they either prescribe gaviscon or dompridone so maybe if you tell them the gaviscon isn't working they'll prescribe this, good luck! we also did the feeding litle and often thing and i's very time consuming x x x

This happend to us recently and my gp gave my dd zantac aswell as gaviscon. We seen a specialist two weeks ago and she changed the meds again. Go back to your GP honey.

Hey, My son suffers with reflux and was prescribed infant gaviscon, this worked for a few weeks then stopped suddenly, i went back to review it with the gp and he prescribed enfamil AR formula which LO has been on for 3 weeks and i can honestly say its brilliant! xx

my lo was/is on gaviscon but i thought the 1 sachet every bottle (6 max in 24 hrs) was too much so i cut it down to 1/2 sachet every 3rd bottle, this worked great for about a week and today all hell has broken loose and we are back to square 1 again. going to give her the full sachet from tonight and see if it will help, u can hear her tummy gurgling and the swallowing sounds are back too.

all docs are off for the wknd so i will see how she goes and if nothing is working i am going to go to doc on monday and see can i get domperdine or something else. (lo is 5 wks old). she hasnt slept since 5am thats almost 14 hrs shes awake and so am i. my nerves are gone

i hate to see her in pain, hope this works
