This is my first time on here and am looking for some guidance. I am 28 years old with a beautiful 7 year old "unplanned blessing." I had my Mirena removed two years ago and we have been trying ever since. We were able to get pregnant once last year but lost the pregnancy at week 6.

I recently had some blood work done to test for PCOS and it all came back great - with the exception of low estrogen (under 20) so the doc said no PCOS. I started 2.5mg Femara and had my 14 day ultrasound today. It revealed 18 follicles, with 0 of them being mature. My biggest four were 15, 12, 10 and 9. I was told that even if they did grow they would not be healthy. They were all misshaped, smooshed and "bad." The ultrasound also showed that I very clearly have PCOS.

My doctor instructed me to begin the Femara again TODAY (day 14) and count it as day 5. He is also upping the dose to 5mg.

My questions are....
1. I have never heard of anyone taking Femara twice in the same cycle. Is this normal?
2. 18 follicles seems like a LOT, how is it possible that NONE of them matured?! And has anyone else had experience with "bad, smooshed" follicles?

Thanks!

I can't help with the second part but I definitely had to start femara a second time in the same cycle. As long as you don't ovulate your body is just kind of in limbo waiting and restarting the pills doesn't do any harm. I hope this round works for you!
