Ouch I've always had an ingrown toenail problem, but now that I'm in 2nd trimester, it's gotten worse and it's painful :(

I've been wearing flip flops a lot and just letting it breathe.

Has anyone had this before? It can't hurt the baby right?

I'm paranoid about everything and worry that it could hurt the baby.

And is hydrogen peroxide safe to use to heal the toe while pregnant? I always did before I was pregnant.

Of course it won't hurt the baby! Just be sure that it doesn't get infected. I always fought with that myself. A few years back I had a procedure done where they fixed it. They also said that epsom salts and a warm footbath as often as you can do it will really help. Also, letting the nail grow out and not cutting it so there are no rounded corners to grow into the toe itself will help too. Hope it heals up quick!

I'd actually have the Dr look at it hun, they can get infected very easily. You may have to have it removed.

i used to suffer really badly from them...they wont hurt bubs as long as it doesnt get infected. What i used to do is soak my foot for a while in epsom salts or even juts normal salt and use the pointy thing on the clippers to try and dig it out...sounds grose but it seemed to work...try and make sure you cut your nails staright across and not curved as this is why you get them...but as your pregnant i think it might be better to get the doc to do it, juts incase of infection! They can fix them for good too by cutting half the nail off or taking the whole thing off completely xoxox hope it gets better for you hun

thanks :] i cleaned it up yesterday and its feeling so much better today. i've had this for the last 6 or 7 years but it just seemed to get worse during pregnancy.

I had a load of ingrown toenails when I was a teen and in my early twenties. Many were left untreated for over a year. As long as you keep it clean and redress it often, you won't hurt the baby. It's only when you start to get it really infected (like blood poisoning) that it can cause problems.

I feel your pain. I had 2 surgeries done to fix the problem on both of my feet. It made the world of a difference but I depend on weekly pedicures (with the right nail tech) to clip the sides of my nails as so it doesn't grow/put pressure on the skin. So I advice you to soak your feet in epson salt and too see if a pedicure will help (even tell the technician you have an ingrown toenail) , bring your own tools if you feel more comfortable.

Yes I had ingrown toenails and got the surgery to remove them about 5 years ago. I got it because my toenails were becoming extremely painful while walking, I could barely even put on shoes. It's a small procedure and pretty quick healing time. They just remove part of the nail on both toes.

This condition definitely won't harm your baby I dont know why you'd be worried, your baby is completely safe inside your womb, far far away from your toes!! :) but Id definitely ask your doctor about getting them removed and see if you can while your pregnant or wait till after the baby is born. Good luck!!
