Ever since lo got teeth, she's been occasionally causing me pain while nursing. Usually it's not biting, but teeth rubbing against my nipples.

I'm not sure when or how it happened, but I got a small injury on my nipple. It's not much, just a bit of skin that got scraped off, I guess. But it is really sore. Every time lo nurses, it hurts. If she happens to be agitated (which she usually is because she can sense me tensing up), she pulls on the nipple and hurts me even more. Sometimes I just want to cry. It is so painful!

So I tend to favor the other side. Still, I feed her off both sides every time because I'm afraid of loosing supply on one side. But that also means that my nipple never heals.

I might try pumping, but I'm not sure that will be less painful.

If I were to take a break from nursing on that side, how long until it would affect my supply?
Is there anything I can do to help it heal?

do you mean the areola or the nipple? if its the nipple then it sounds like LO isnt propperly attached. though without seeing it i cant be certain, is there a breast feeding support group you can take yourself to, it may be helpful to see what you are doing right and if there is anything you can get to make it easier on your nipples. xx

If the skin is broken mix 1% hydrocortisone ointment with Polysporin and a vaginal anti thrush cream and apply to the affected area sparingly. It will help you heal and prevent thrush

It is the nipple, close to the areola. lo does get a bad latch when she is teething, so that might be what caused the injury. She also likes to pull on my breast and sometimes pulls to get off the breast, scraping the nipple in the process.
I will look to see if there are any breastfeeding support groups around, though I think most only give help through the phone.

thanks, I will do that.
