Hi,

So I am on insulin injections 3 times a day with meals. Was wondering if anyone else is having problems giving themselves the injections? I did them in my last preg without any problems, ths time almost everytime I give myself an injection, there seems to be blood spurting out when I withdraw the needle.

And the site is pretty painful for abt 2/3 days after sometimes with red bumps or blood clots. Is this normal?

I am using new needles with every injection and alternating the site.

What am I doing wrong?

Are you using a quick pen or insulin vial. I use the quick pen (you dont need to pinch the skin up) and have no bleeding I do find I can only use the bottom of my stomach as the top of my bump is to tight and it really hurts

I am using the pen - novapen with novafine needles, I get it right most of the time but my thighs r begining to luk like a treasure map with blue/black marks all over the place frm whn it goes wrong.

My OH uses pen injections and I know he isn't preg lol, but he finds it better when he does it in his thigh or lower tummy otherwise he bleeds. He does it slowly and injects slowly and it doesn't give him the lumps like it used to.

Don't force it, try very slowly and gently, and if it hurst try another place untill you find one that doesn't hurt.
