hello!

i read this article today about, these multi vits sound like they have amazing results, im definatly going to invest in some next time im in the uk.. might buy 6 months worth and then hopefully get my bfp the week after so its a big waste of money!!

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/...-costing-30p-day-answer-getting-pregnant.html

has anyone used them before?

:hugs:

worth a try  I see these at boots all the time and thought they were a little costly..

What shocked me more was the comments at the bottom..

Oh dear, not more babies on the planet. All those wanting kids, please go take a look at the 'parenting' forums first. That should put you off. And those who go through with it? Be prepared for a change in your relationship with the person you 'love'. The high likelihood of affairs. Being short of cash. No free time for yourself. And much, much more.

How mean!

thats such a nasty comment! there username should have been scruge! people that bitter and cold probably shouldnt have kids, but that doesnt mean us warm and friendly people shouldnt!! :flower:

i would like to find out who did the study, weather it was funded by the vitamin company... they could have easilly chosen all the 20 year olds with no issues to represent the vitamin group... but it could be valid if it was a fair test!

:hugs:

I'd take it all with a pinch of salt.

1. It was reported by the Daily Mail
2. Sample size was less than 100 (generally you want a sample size to be at least 100 as the percentages you calculate will then be 1:1 rather than anything less - the bigger the sample size, the more accurate your results).

Looked it up online, full title of the article is: "Prospective randomized trial of multiple micronutrients in subfertile women undergoing ovulation induction: a pilot study". (basically this sounds like a suggestion for a study. A pilot would have been run with a small sample size and then this article would be pitched to the department to allow funds to research it again, properly, with a much larger sample size)

Haven't got time to access it at the moment (I work for a University so hopefully my login will work & I'll read it later) but this sounds to me like the usual thing where the press finds something tiny and blows it up into something unrealistically big.

This comic springs to mind: https://www.phdcomics.com/comics/archive.php?comicid=1174

Used these for the last 12mths and through 3 rounds of ivf, no bfp for me!

I'm sure they help plenty of women but as ponted out above the study sounds dubious. As a general rule i try never to believe anything i read in the daily mail and to save my sanity i never read the comments under articles from the masses.

i've used these for 18 months and no joy - MMC last Feb but since then nothing
oh well !
xx

Ive used them as well with no luck. I just tkae whichever ones are on offer at Boots. We are going to start IVF in January. Have a look at the ingredients. I don't think that they are any different from other tablets you can get.

L-Arginine 100mg; Inositol 50mg; N-Acetyl Cysteine 50mg; Betacarotene 3mg; Vitamin D (600 I.U.) 15 mcg; Vitamin E 30 mg; Vitamin C 90 mg; Vitamin B1 8 mg; Vitamin B2 5 mg; Niacin 20 mg; Vitamin B6 10 mg; Folic Acid 400 mcg; Vitamin B12 20 mcg; Biotin 150mcg; Pantothenic Acid 6mg; Iron 14 mg; Selenium 50 mcg; Magnesium 60 mg; Zinc 15 mg; Iodine 140 mcg; Copper 1 mg.

sorry to here no of you has had any joy :(

good luck for the ivf in the in january impatience :)

im trying hard ot persuade my oh to take some vitamins.. we dont get his sa results back till january but there is no harm taking vitamins early in my opinion!

ive heard that they work well for men through friends that have taken them their partners sa has doubled when taking vitamins but they have taken menovit for 3 months which costs alot more than the one advertised in the article. My belief is give it a go it cant cause any harm! I am going to start all vitamin taking after christmas when I have a little more money as it is expensive and you have to take them for a while before you see the effects.
Good luck to everyone :)

I am taking them, willing to to try anything!

I took these for a few months at the start, instead of my cycles settling down and becoming more regular after coming off the pill, they got worse and eventually stopped! Now I dont ovulate or have periods by myself, not saying its because I took these tablets but in my case I can say that they did not maintain my level of fertility and definately did not improve my level of fertility, in fact my level of fertility got worse whilst taking them :(

To be honest theres nothing in them powerful enough to do that, its mainly just vitamins and the other ingredients are very low doeses, I don't think the tablets caused your cycles to stop. Also they are not a wonder drug that can fix fertility problems, they may help people under going IVF thats all the article says.

I've been taking these for 3 years now...
Hubby started taking the ones for Men a year ago after his SA.

Since taking them my nails have never been so great, my skin is healthy and its great knowing your getting you RDA of everything good and important.

Hopefully will aid/ increase our chances of having successful IVF, but apart from that they are just a very good vitamin and I shall take them forever now. (Tesco also do a cheaper alternative) x

Hey yeah I did say in my post, "not saying its because I took these tablets" so no I don't think they caused the problem but they definately didn't help the problem. But every persons body is different and what might help one person might not help or might hinder another person. I am at the stage too where I would try anything once, my husband and I joke that if someone told us to do ridiculous things we would do it to get pregnant! Lol

They have made my nails grow really well, they must do something, although no bfp here either, and yes I agree everyone is different, maybe if you are really lacking in vitamis in the first place they do help you get a bfp?? I don't think they do any harm, even if they don't bring on that BFP thats all I mean.

Nice nails sound good! Maybe it Will make My hair nice aswell! ;)

rember to visit tesco or boots while you are here, get your stocks!

Definatly Will, then of to primark for some chep pj's and knickers, vant wait!

I'm on my 4th box of these and still no bfp for me either. I'm carrying on with them though as I can't see that it will hurt to get extra vitamins etc. Haven't noticed any improvements in my nails - that would be nice!!!
