Sorry for the yucky question, but AF arrived today after 50 days and have my IVF appointment in 2 days, at which I have to have a transvaginal scan. I guess it's just making me feel a bit uncomfortable

Has anybody has a scan on CD3 or very early in their cycle? Can u put my mind at ease?

On the upside, I need CD3 FSH bloods done so it's quite good timing!

no sorry, i had one on day 8 and af had gone by then, good luck though

well hun it could be a good thing but then againg some docs wont do the internal scan while your on your period but if you need the FSH bloods done then at least you can get that done.i have feeling i might be into my first days of my new cycle as well when i go into the docs and they do internal scans as well but not to sure if they will do it but i highy doubt it. it just seems dirty to me

I had one recently on CD4. I thought I'd got away with it as I didn't bleed all day... until I was given tissue to wipe myself afterwards :dohh:

I told the sonographer beforehand which CD I was on and she said it didn't matter as it was still possible to do during your period. I was just slightly embarrassed afterwards as I'd convinced myself I'd finished.

It also said in the letter I'd got that'd it be fine no matter which CD you are on.

Good Luck :flower:

Thanks clueless, makes me feel loads better x

Just wondering if there's any point in being scanned that early if there's nothing to see

Hi Mrs R,

I had to have mine done today on Day 5 (it was a requirement that it was done between days 2 and 7)... it wasn't particularly pleasant but as Clueless said it doesn't matter what CD you are on.

All the best for your appointment x

Hi Mrs R!
I had one done on cd 4. They just put extra pads down under me and gave me towels to clean up with after. It can get a tad messy, but it doesn't matter when you have it done in your cycle. They will still be able to see if your uterine lining is normal and look at your ovaries and check for fibroids.

Good luck with your apt!

Thanks, really appreciate the info. It makes me feel a bit better to know what to expect. I suppose I will just have to wait til tomorrow to find out
