Hi girls

I'm in need for some advice, I'm a nurse and have a job interview next Monday. It's a great position but my hours are slightly more than I'm doing at the moment and I'm going to have rearrange my childcare

At the moment I work 20hours and rely on solely family to help out with my little girl. If I get offered this new job i would have to maybe put her to a childminder? Or nursery for 2 half days a week.

I'm feeling very guilty about this and not sure whether to even go to the interview? My husband is being very supportive but my extended family don't even want to discuss it with me.

Ah!! It would be great for some advice

How old is your little girl? My DD is just 2 and I'm starting to wish she went to nursery sometimes as I'm a SAHM and it's noticeable that she's one of the most hesitant children in a group, where she used to be the same as the others. I think 2 half days could be really good for her, give her a little independance before she gets thrown into nursery half time and school full time. We go to groups every day, but there is always me, my husband or my mum with her so she never needs to be assertive.

That said I fully understand how easy it is to feel like you're failing by handing her over to strangers, DD is eligible for a free 2 year old place from September as she has a disability, and I'm finding it hard to hand her over as I'd rather she was with people who know and love her.... but at the same time I don't want her growing up scared of her own shadow!

Thanks so much for your reply. It is very difficult as I feel I'm letting her down by putting her to a nursery in a way. I ended up getting the job that I went to interview for.We are going to see how thing's go and take it from there.

Parenting is tough!

Congratulations on the job.

My LO goes to nursery 4 full days a week 8am -5pm. I asked work if I could go back for 3 days but they refused, so we compromised on 4. We have no family close that can help us out so she's been in nursery since she was 10 months old.

I have to say I felt sooooo guilty at first as she took about a month to settle in but now she loves it. She runs in & gives big hugs to the girls & she has come on so well with everything.
I would love to spend more time with her but even if I won the lottery I think I'd let her go to nursery a couple of days a week still.
The interaction she gets with other children & the games / crafts and songs they do all day are probably far better than I would do with her.

So I'm sure your LO will be great, it might just take a few weeks of adjustment. Good luck
xx
