Some of you ladies may know me – im more of a lurker then a poster but just to let you know baby Abbie made an appearance on 4th Febuary at 11.40am via elective caesarean – I had everything going from SPD, severe backache, excess fluids, gestational diabetes and baby measuring quite big.

Got a call on Tuesday afternoon from hospital to say that my section was booked for Monday 4th, so hubby and I arrived promptly at 8am with our hospital bags and filled in necessary paperwork, spoke to the anaesthetic person and then waited round till 10.40am and brought down to operating theatre to be prepped.

After changing into my hospital gown etc, DH was then shown the changing room to change into scrubs and then I was walked into the operating theatre and greeted by the surgical team, confirmed my details and this is where the fun began…

PLEASE DON’T READ IF FEAR OF NEEDLES… anaesthetic assistant walks in, makes small talk and introduces himself (very nice guy) then asks me to arch my back over the pillow, to give me my spinal – last time I had an epidural as I was in labour but this time round cos it’s an elective they used a spinal instead. Put the tube into my lower back, fiddled bout and felt this burning sensation digging right into my back.

Gasped with pain and horror and he got quite worried asked me if I was ok? Said no, by this point I literally wished I was having contractions instead of being fiddled bout in my lower back, took a few minutes break – tried again, again the horror of the pain returned. Went back to square one and I just wish it was over by now

Tried one last time and then he had to call the senior anaesthetic in, i was in so much agony by this point - she came in, examined me and told me that i had to have it higher than usual as they were having problems getting it into my lower back. After this i didnt care if they stuck it in my head :haha:

Was quite nervous this time round as had EMCS last time due to failure to progress after 52h so this time round it was quite calm and relaxing, DH was brought into the room and the operation began. They pulled our beautiful daughter out at 11.40am, baby Abbie weighed a whooping 10lbs 2oz and measured 52cm.

Everyone commented on her weight and size, i heard her first cry after 30 seconds and she was brought to DH wrapped up in a towel  she was beautiful just like my first daughter. After that was stitched back up with DH and LO with me in the room and wheeled back to recovery.

We're back home now - still tender round the scar and got major back pain, cant take anything other than paracetmol as combi feeding breast and bottle but LO is a dream - our little family is complete and her older sister is loving her role :cloud9::cloud9:

I know this is my last pregnancy as DH and i wanted 2 kids and now we have 2 under 2 but i also cant imagine going through all the whole pregnancy complications again and with the whole spinal saga again - especially with my fear of needles

p.s piccie of LO attached a few hours after birth
