Well, I am Tracy. If you'd told me two days ago, I'd be posting to this forum I would have laughed uncontrollably. So, I'm typing with nervous hands. I turned 40 in December and will be 41 when baby is born.
This pregnancy wasn't "planned," but both DH and I are thrilled. We haven't shared the news yet since it is so early on....I'm 4 weeks.
We have 3 children--all boys (16, 15, &12).
The 16 yo was born at 36 weeks--7lbs 4oz--no complications.
The 15 yo was born at 32 weeks--4lbs 40z--21 day NICU stay, basically a feeder/grower. I had pneumonia and really think I coughed him out!!
The 12 yo was a 29 weaker and is non-verbal/autistic. During that pregnancy I had a clotting disorder (antiphospholipid antibody syndrome). I was diagnosed at about 18 weeks and was immediately put on baby aspirin and low dose heparin. After a 3 week hospital stay, Zeke was born in March. He had a wicked NICU stay of 110 days.....so very scared of that experience happening again.
Prior to the last pregnancy I had a silent or missed miscarriage at just over 8 weeks. So, my pregnancy history is not stellar! The silent miscarriage scares me the most---that and the possibility of having another special needs child. We are very blessed with an extended support network, so all will be wonderful...if we can get this little bundle of joy here in May .
I do think a lot of the complications I had were the result of so many pregnancies in a short amount of time. From July 1994 until September 1998, I was pregnant 4 times. I'm praying my body has forgotten all about how hard I was on it and will be a bit more cooperative this time around :thumb up:.
So, couple of questions.....any other moms dealt with antiphospholipid antibody syndrome in multiple pregnancies? I barely tested positive for it in the last pregnancy, and it disappeared after delivery. I was referred to a neonatologist after the diagnosis---wondering if I should start with my OB-GYN or call the neonatologist?? Also, have any of you had experience telling older teens you are expecting? To complicate matters, I am the librarian at the high school the 15 and 16 year old attend. I think they'll be thrilled, but I really don't quite have the words to tell them!
Found out with home pregnancy test late yesterday afternoon and will be calling for doctor appointment on Monday. Because of my history, I think they'll see me pretty soon.
Thanks for any advice/support you can offer--and for reading this ridiculously long post! I'm very thankful to have found this forum since I really can't talk to many people about the pregnancy right now. We live in a hideously small town--once word is out the 40 year old high school librarian is pregnant--the ENTIRE county will know....should be tons of fun...lol.
