Hi All :flower:

I went for my 32 week midwife appointment last week and she told me that my iron levels are 'seriously low' and she made an appointment for me to go to hospital next week to see a consultant about starting Iron Therapy, but she wouldn't say what this is.

So I'm just wondering, has anybody else had to have Iron Therapy during pregnancy? What happens etc?

I know I'll find out on wednesday, but I'd rather go there knowing a little bit of what to expect, instead of going in blind iykwim

Thanks xx

My thoughts would be iron injections :hugs:

Have you been on iron tablets already? Ive been on 100mg of iron a day for 2 months and Ive just had it doubled as its still dropping badly.

I can cope with injections I think! I just really don't want it to be anything where I would have to stay in hospital for awhile (eg on a drip or anything like that!)

No, I haven't had any tablets because my Dr wouldn't prescribe me anything. He said I didn't need anything - even though the Midwife & hospital are all saying I do!?! :growlmad: So I just kind of prescribed myself Spatone, but that's clearly not doing enough.

Is yours really low aswell then? :hugs: xx

You can just go and pick something up from the chemists. Just watch with the liquid supliments because they may not have so much iron in them.

I was anemic in my first pregnancy so as soon as my levels dropped a little I had to start on the tablets. But in 2 months of iron its gone from about 129 to 113, the worst I ever had in my first pregnancy was 111.

I dont think its actually bad as its not in the "danger zone" but its bad enough for me as Im exhausted constantly. Just trying hard to get it back up now so I can avoid any further treatment.

I hope your levels improve soon :hugs:
