How much did your LO's eat at 3 weeks?
Since about 2 1/2 weeks my son has been eating up too 6oz each feed, is that too much?
He's gone through nearly 3 tins of milk and I was bf'ing&expressing for a week so he wasn't having any formula at all x

As long as he is not sicking the milk back up or gaining excessive amounts of weight then its a fine amount. At 3 weeks you could find that its a growth spurt and he might revert back to smaller amounts in a few days. xxx

He had to gain weight because he lost over 1lb after he was born, so they made me near enough force feed him, so he's gaining weight fast now.
& he'd been on it for about a week now. I was told growth spurts only last 2 days x

every baby is different, mine has been on 2-3oz since birth as has only started drinking 4-5oz now in the past week!

every baby is different. Mine was 8 lbs 12 oz and the hospital was mad that she wanted 2 oz while still in the hospital. They wanted me to only give her 1 oz. My LO is 12 weeks ( 13 lbs) and eats 6 oz. Some babies are just hungry, feed the little guy if he wants it. As long as he is not getting sick then he is not overeating. :D

When he was in hospital they refused to give him anymore than 2oz every 3hours even when he was screaming.
I wonder if he eats so much because he was 2 weeks early and lost quite a bit of weight so he has extra growing to do?x

doubtful, he will still hit growth spurts at the same time and he wasnt technically early. The amount he is having sounds normal to me. My LO is fed formula and expressed (not together) and she will take between 3 and 6oz also and has done since 3 weeks. She would take more at the 3 week mark which is when babies having a big growth spurt, she has now settled back down to mostly 3oz feeds.

I can't imagine stopping my lil one after just 1 oz in the hospital!!! I remember my ds was drinking 2 oz at a time, every feed....1 1/2 hrs apart! So when she was eating 2-3 oz the first couple days, 4 oz at 3 days old,i couldn't believe it! she actually ended up losing weight by time we left after our 3 day stay too!! She would of lost so much more if she was restricted to 1 oz!

Even at over 2 wks, she can eat 4 oz at a time. some days she'll only eat 2. Feed him what he'll eat!!!

My health visitor has said if he carries on with the 6oz every 3 hours to change to hungry baby milk.
Last night he had 7.5oz!

Ds munched massively in hospital, and was up to drinking nearly 6oz last week. But hes cut down now and is having 4-5oz. He's happy so I'm not fussed.

She is my second so I knew the hospital was crazy! I fed her what she wanted and ignored them. A 8lb 12 oz baby will not be happy with just an oz. Moms know best :)
