Is baby already too low to get a good image? I have never done a 3d ultrasound before and the idea of it freaks my husband out.. but I have been so caught up with my other two boys and I haven't really even had time to think about or enjoy this baby in utero... I can't get over this awful fear of labor this time.. Also I am afraid of having trouble bonding like I did with ds2, and i am thinking that maybe seeing this little guy in there may get me excited and past feeling so anxious and down about everything..

Of course then i wonder, will we even be able to see baby's face or will he be way too low and hidden? I know his head is already down low.. Anybody have any experiences with late 3d ultrasounds?

I think it can kind of go either way. I just had a growth scan yesterday at 36+6. We were able to get some pictures of his face, but they weren't as good or clear as my scan at 29 weeks. He basically seemed quite squished. The tech I had loves to try and get cute pictures despite the fact that it's a medical scan (which is very sweet of her) so she tried for awhile. He's head down and getting his head into my pelvis, and they were still able to get the measurements and pics they needed. I'll attach one and you can see what you think.

Aww how cute, that really is nice of her. They really do run out of room in there but it's still so cool. You were able to see him moving and everything?

I just went for one yesterday and have another booked for 35.5 weeks. I was told not to wait too long after 36 weeks but it was more bc if they couldn't get good pictures than there would be less time to try a rescan if I waited any later. Bc the place I go to will rescan on a later date if the baby doesn't cooperate. I think 3D ultrasounds are amazing. I've done it with all three of my babies. This is my last and I bought a three visit package just bc I found a good deal. It's totally worth it in my opinion!

I had one at almost 35 weeks with DS. I thought it actually went quite well!

I had a 3D scan this morning at 32 weeks (my OB does them at nearly every visit) and baby's head was far to low to see his face at all. I'd say it's a risk that you wouldn't get any nice images.

We were able to see his face moving, yes. They so big at this point that you can only really see one part of them at a time. But his hands were up by his face and we could see him clenching and unclenching his fingers/sucking on his thumb/swallowing amniotic fluid. He would also scrunch up his face and look pretty grumpy sometimes, haha. It was definitely cool to see! I'm not sure I would pay the cost of a 3D scan for it, though.

Ahh good to know. As much as I want to do it I'm afraid it would be a waste of money now. I called the place I like to go for our gender scans and he said they were booked so I'd be well into the 37th week and by then maybe it's better to wait until birth. I think I'm really just anxious that this guy will end up in the nicu like ds2, and all I really want is to be able to hold him and be with him from the start.
