Is anyone having IVF with Mr Taranissi

Hi, I just wondered if anyone is being treated by the top/controversial IVF doctor Mr Taranissi in London? Apparently he uses different methods and has a 61% success rate which is fantastic. But I tried to find out why this is so and some people have said it is because you undergo blood transfusoins to 'clean' your blood or something so that the embryo is not rejected by the body? Not too keen on that...but also it brings the costs up to about 10K in total?

I'm not sure if this is true so if you have been to teh clinic I would be really grateful for any input/advice. Thanks.

From what i am aware, they check your immune system and if you are positive for something then they give u extra stuff to take. Ie steroids, clexane. I am on them this cycle.

I have had treatment with Mr Tarannissi in 2007/early 2008. Your comment made me laugh, it's funny how information can get very badly obscured. First of all one treatment can cost over 10k, ours was about 12k. However because the "odds" are so high we thought it was well worth it. I was 38 at the time.

What you are referring to is treatment for high Natural Killer cells. The clinic will ask to do a test for it at some stage and it used to be couriered to USA. If you are found to have high NK cell count (read up on it... it means your body's immune system will attack a pregnancy as it recognizes it as a foreign object) you will be given treatment for it which is one or more IVIGs. These are a blood product administered intravenously. It contains the pooled IgG (immunoglobulin (antibody) G) extracted from the plasma of over one thousand blood donors. What it is supposed to do is that the proteins somehow wrap itself around the high NK cells and bring the level down for a time which gives your pregnancy a chance.

I was really skeptical at first until i researched it. I had actually been given 3 IVIGs as my levels kept rising and we have a beautiful 2 and half year old son after one attempt. I met numerous women who have had lots of attempts elsewhere and it worked with him on the first or second go. I met some women who have gone back to Mr T more times for more babies...and one of them has had twins in one attempt and a little girl in another attempt using an embryo which was frozen for 4 years, she is going back again for another. In the UK I would go to no one else but him. He is the best, his results prove it. It is a busy place and they are not good at pampering you etc but I knew I was getting the best treatment there.

Also he is also only controversial (and this is just a term branded on him by the media who he successfully sued on a few occasions... BBC included) because he cant properly "clinically trial" his treatment for high NK cells. How can he? it means using pregnant women like you or me as guinea pigs so test a theory. He knows it works as his results show it...
