Is it dangerous to conceive immediately following a m/c?

We were told by our consultant that it was ok to ttc immediately following our two previous miscarriages. He said they normally only say to wait for dating purposes. I had our second miscarriage on the 16th Jan 06 and fell pregnant around Valentines Day.

We sadly miscarried again last month but are ttc again.

Sorry to hear you've had another loss. I hope you get your BFP soon, followed by a healthy 9 months! I'm praying that this month will be lucky for us!

:hugs:

I was told to wait for one cycle before trying but only for dating purposes. I miscarried nearly three weeks ago and started trying as soon as I could as I felt this was the only way for me to get over things. Both myself and Hubby are excited about trying again and its mad how much sex you want this time around! Must be natures way of replacing what its lost - no complaints from Hubby! I have been having nightmares and have one huge spot on my face - both were signs lastime that I was pregnant, fingers crossed!

Thank you for this information. My best friend lost her baby due to miscarriage a few weeks ago. We were talking about this very thing and if it was ok to ttc right after. I really didn't know if it was ok or not, but did hear that one can be quite fertile right after a miscarriage.

Sorry to hear about your friend's loss. We didn't manage to get pg straight after my mc, but we gave it a good shot! I've only had one AF and am praying that this might be our month as the bbs are a bit sore.................

Good luck to everyone TTC...this has to be our month!
:hugs::hugs::hugs:

Ibviously I had a late miscarriage and no ones told us if we should wait. Although my midwife visited me the other day and said she see's no reason why we can't try soon.

We're still not sure when we're going to start trying but it got cut from a year to 3-6 months in a day!

Good luck Snowball. I'm really sorry to hear about your late mc...mine was fairly early and that was hard enough. Hope you can begin TTC again soon :hugs:

hiya, I m/c on 12/12/06; we were 7 weeks....we were told to wait for 1st af to arrive....but really when we were ready...I got my af on 04/01/07 and my bfp on 27/01/07 and our gorgeous daughter was born in september at 35 weeks :)

I think the body will only get pg when it has healed sufficiently to carry a pregnancy.

I'm not sure how emotionally ready I was though, but physically I was ok.

Ive read so many conflicting pieces of information about this. Some say only for dating, some say lining needs to build up.:dohh:

Im so worried that i might get pregnant again and then lose it because i havent given myself enough time for the lining to buil up again after the erpc.

Does anybody actually know any doctors or seen any actual evidence that supports either way??

i think after a miscarriage our hormones are everywhere so having a period gives us a chance to go back to our pre pregnancy state. it also gives ur body chance to show if u have a infection.. i didnt with my eprc but i have had one this time.
I have decided to wait just one period before trying to let my womb have a little rest as this is my second miscarriage in a short time also we have to wait nine months for our baby so whats a month extra gonna hurtm to get emotionaly and physically stronger saying that if u feel good and u are ready to try again and strong enough to accept and cope with the prospect of having another miscarriage, then go for it.
I know habing two miscarriages isnt something that happens to everyone but my first pregnancy was straight forward and trouble free so it could happen to you or to anyone so bare that in mind and finally good luck babes x

lol gosh that sounds so negative i dont mean it to - i just mean getting on the pregnancy rollercoaster is somthing u gotta be prepared for - the highs which are so so high and the lows that are so so low.
hopefully we will both get a sticky :bfp: soon xxx

I've also just seen conflicting advice. My friend had a D&C last year and concieved twins 4 weeks after, before she'd had her first af. They were born in January and are perfectly fine :)

Hi girls well I flit back and forth to this thread as I'm currently pregnant straight after a m/c with no AF inbetween. Obviously VERY nervous and my doc was a bit negative to say the least saying ' I advised you to wait two cycles'... ooops.
However, I've also heard some really positive stories of women getting preg immediately after a m/c and going full term.
I'm with what some others have written, which is what will be wil be.
I am no medic but perhaps it depends how far in you lose the baby. I was only 5weeks 3 days when my m/c started and although I was absolutely heartbroken and still am, I felt it was early enough for me to be physically ready to try again.
(Basically, I am an impatient cow:)!!)

Good luck to all those ttc after mc and going through mc.

Hi all, I had my MC a week ago today (at 6wks+2) and the bleeding stopped Yesturday, it was only really heavy the first few days and a lot lighter the last few so kinda like a longer than normal heavier period. now the bleeding has stopped i feel right as rain again and i was told at the Early Pregnancy Unit that its advisable to wait so you give your uterus a better lining for implantation purposes, in the leaflet i brought home it doesnt say you have to wait tho, I am going with the theory that if my body isnt ready then beanie wont inbed and i will be non the wiser, but just maybe if its meant to be it will be, good luck everyone ttc x x
