Okay I have a few questions. I was tested for GD earlier this week, still waitin on results but Ive been having some problems and wasn't sure if it was GD related or something else. I keep gettin really bad migraines and dizzy. The migraines last all day while the dizziness comes and goes. The headaches are so bad that I have to sit in a dark room because any light just increases it. Another problem is that when I eat occasionally I'll get really hot, dizzy, shaky, and my heart race speeds up. Everytime this happens I become short of breath and feel like passing out... Are any of these signs of GD or could therr be something more that is wrong? Please help becausr my first pregnancy withmy daughter was so easy and I never had any of this happen so I am very lost.

I don't know, but I have been having some of the same symptoms. If eat something sugary, I get lightheaded, shaky, and my heart rate goes up to about 95 (it is usually around 80 resting). I'm also peeing every 30 mins if I'm hydrating appropriately. I'm getting my GD test tomorrow and I'll let you know what my MD says about those symptoms.

Google hypoglcemicia and see if that is anything you can relate too.

My blood sugar test was normal. The MD said something about pregnancy hormones making my blood sugar go up and down more quickly - and if I was having these symptoms I should avoid sugary foods/juice and eat protein at every meal.

I think migraines and dizziness can actually be signs of high blood pressure. I had elevated blood pressure when I was pregnant and if I am remembering correctly, that is what my OB told me to watch for.

I had Gestational Diabetes and I didn't experience any of that. Really, I didn't experience many, if any, symptoms at all.

I experienced dizziness one time where I almost fainted and that was because I barely ate that day. Any pregnant person, regardless of whether or not they had GD, probably would have fainted. The only thing I ate was an orange because the only other thing available to eat were turkey sandwiches that had been sitting on a hot bus all day. No thanks.

I agree with the above poster! That sounds like a blood pressure thing to me. have you had it checked recently? I would call your doc immediately if you get another headache like that to be checked, just to be safe. Did you get the results back for the GD test? I just found out recently that I have it- my sugar levels dropped drastically today and I felt tired and cranky, and like my head was in the clouds, but that is it. I've had pre eclampsia in two of my pregnancies and was always told to call in for severe headaches.

Headaches and dizziness sound like high blood pressure. The other sounds like low blood sugar. The hormones increase insulin resistance which can lead to lows. Try to eat carbs with protein and fats to slow their absorption. It should help with the crashes. Do you have a meter to test at all? If so, test when you have the symptoms and if below 60 eat 15g of fast acting carbs (sugar basically- about 3 hard candies) and retest in 15 minutes to make sure it's above 80.
