Is it worth buying 6-9 month clothes?

Comparing them in the shops, there seems to be a matter of millimetres between the two sizes - what's the point?!

Is it better to go from 3-6 straight to buying 9-12 and just make do with them being slightly too big for a month or two?

Id say yes, i wish i hadnt bothered with 3-6 as our lo is quite chunky and was only ins 3-6 from about 10-16 weeks. Then she went into 6-9 and is still in them now although they r getting abit small now! All her clothes r from next thought and they r quite small sizes xx

Anna is slightly behind on sizes. Her 0-3 fit perfectly at the moment and she's 11 weeks old today. I think she'll be in them for maybe another month before going into her 3-6 sizes.

It is for me but I have a small baby. She's getting too long for 6 months pants but 9 month clothing is way to big. My skinny miss is still in 3 month and 6 month onesies.

Gabe's in a mix of 6-9 and 9-12. The 9-12 stuff is too long so I have to roll sleeves and trouser legs, but the 6-9 is too tight around the middle for trousers/dungarees and too tight around the head for tops and vests. Actually I guess it's only sleepsuits that are still 6-9!! But he did wear all of the stuff from about 4 months, so we did get a reasonable bit of use. I was careful not to buy much, though, and got a nice used bundle of stuff for cheap. All babies vary, and remember their growth slows down considerably around 6 months. :flower:

My daughter is 50th percentile for both height and weight so 6-9 month has been a nice fit. I like her to wear clothes that fit well so for me it was worthwhile. I am quite a wasteful spendthrift though.

ps. if your baby starts getting mobile around now, you'll want properly fitting clothes, as anything too big is almost as restrictive to their movement as too small!

6-9 is great; my baby has been in them for 7 months. Only within the last week are some of the pants getting a little short.

It just depends, they tend to grow in spurts rather than gradually so you could end up being grown out of a size virtually overnight or you could end up with clothes slightly too big for ages.

DS was in 6-9 month clothes until he was over a year old. I decided to skip 9-12 months as he was already over a year and I thought I would just deal with clothes being too big for a bit. He didn't properly grow into his 12-18 months clothes for probably another six months! He had a few items in 9-12 months that we had been given as presents and they fit him perfectly. I really regretted not buying more 9-12 clothes that would have actually fit him.

Think it depends on the child really...3-6 babygros were too short, but 9-12 are too big...so we use the inbetween...mines also 50th percentile

It really depends on how fast your baby grows, how they are sized, and your willingness to allow baby to "swim" in their clothes. My boy is currently in 3-6 months but will be too big for them soon. I will definitely be using 6-9months clothes because the 12 month sizes will be way too big.

I'm a baby clothes addict so he'll defo be having 6-9 :D

my big ol' 10 week old wore 0-3 for maybe a couple of weeks and is already outgrowing 3-6 and wearing 6-9. I guess it really depends on each individual baby as they all grow at different rates

Callum went from 3-6 to 9-12. I'm actually going to have to pack away his 3-6 month clothes now, I practically have to stuff him into them at this point. I think it depends on the individual baby, their weight gain rate and where you buy the clothes from. I have clothes from one place that are labelled as 6-12 months, and they're the same size as the 9 month clothes I got from somewhere else.

This really does seem to be unique to different babies and depends where you buy your baby clothes.

Our LO is 18 weeks and is wearing 3-6 months clothes. He moved from 0-3 to 3-6 two weeks before he turned 3 months. The difference between 3-6 and 6-9 months clothing seems to be a big jump... our LO wears mostly Jojo maman bebe and Next clothing. I dont think he will move up a size until just before he turns 6 months but I don't let his clothing get tight... I like him to be comfortable and changing him to be easy.
Some people seem to cling to smaller sizes.

my dd is 10 months and only just in 6-9 month clothes, she can still fit into her 3-6 month clothes, 9-12 month would be way too big for her :) shes my petite princess :)

Scarlett is in 6-9, they fit perfectly. I've got out some 9-12 just because I'm sick of the sight of the 6-9 stuff haha and they're pretty big on her. Trousers are idiotic as she has such a tiny waist! (wish I could say she got that from me!)

We growth spurted through lots of the 6-9 age range (went from being behind in clothes to ahead) but I'd still have bought them as the 9-12 month stuff would have been ridiculously large on her, especially factoring in crawling attempts and rolling and the amount of general wriggling they start to do at that age.

The one thing I did give up on was going from babygros to pyjamas - she just hit the leg length limit so fast that it was either cut the bottoms off (which I didn't want to do with a second baby on the way and wanting to reuse clothes) or buy the next size up, or go for PJs - found I get much better mileage out of PJs so she's been in them since about 4-5 months.

Currently we're at that annoying point where one size is getting too small and the next size is slightly too big!
