my LOs seriously outgrowing his infant car seat at an alarming rate and im not buying another group 0
so i was just curious, if you have to move early, say 6 months (hes 18lb already at almost 5 months) is it okay to put him in an ERF early? as id assume its the same principal as the infsnt just bigger?
thanks :flower:

Thomas has been in his "big boy" carseat since 8 weeks old.

I really don't know the answer hun but didn't want to read and run, maybe ask in the ERF thread in the natural parenting section, there are loads if helpful ladies in there and I'm sure one of them will know the answer.x

Dependant on the seat of course, there is a few ERF seats that go from birth. The Britax Hiway is one example.

Yes! :) I had to do this as well from 5 months.

ive found the one i want and it doesnt go from birth but 20lbs but my LO can sit with unaided so im guessing he'll be okay.
i just dont think he'll like facing backwards for much longer which really puts me off :/

whys ERF in natural parenting lol, how odd but thanks :)

Once they are out of their infant seat I don't think they mind sitting rear facing for the most part because they can see out the windows and they are sitting more upright than in an infant seat. My DS is over two and he has never forward faced but he always knows where we are going because he can see out. You may find he is very happy to rear face and if you don't put them forward facings how are they to know there is anything different

The sitting unaided thing is not really relevant, LO needs to be at the minimum weight in order for a seat in order for it to be secure (in general it has to do with compression and the child's weight securing the seat properly).

As for not liking it, you can always try using toys, mirrors, or unfortunately sometimes I just try and listen to the radio if he hated it, they are just far too young to be faced forward. Good luck :)

I have hi-way ii for my 5 month old who is 22lbs so will soon outgrow her 0+ seat. We also purchased a second hi-way for my 2 year old who until now has forward faced. She has not objected at all and seems to like rear facing and trust me, she's very vocal if she's not happy!!!
