DH got a letter in the post today due to his performance at work... apparently the letter stated his wrongdoings and he has been called for a meeting with HR and his manager to discuss his "performance" i know DH has done a few wrong doings but who doesnt?!?!

He has been working there for 5 years now and they've been apparently trying to get rid of him within the last year... i feel sick to my stomach, we've got a mortgage to pay, bills, a LO and one on the way...

His been trying his hardest to find another job and study at the same time but his workplace has been giving him grief, i cant sleep or eat properly due to worrying sick if he does lose his job. His manager the b*stard cant even manage properly and goes missing for hours on end, leaving DH to hold the fort.

The letter said the outcome can result in a written warning, can he be fired over this? i know most companies have 3 written warnings then its being dismissal - also i know he can object to the written warning if they ALLOW him.

Please help :cry::cry::cry::cry:

p.s i try to keep a brave face and support him in applying for jobs but it seems like he doesnt wanna deal with it and is so laid back, i feel like i cant talk to anyone as i'll just end up crying

I would think if they have put it can result in a written warning, that that's as far as it can go. Has he been disaplined before? Have they suspended him? It really depends what he's apparently done wrong / if its gross misconduct etc.

Try not to worry :hugs: This might be what he needs to encourage him to get a new job etc.

I wouldn't have thought he could be fired. Try not to worry

Hi hun I work in hr. They cant fire you if they have specifies he may get a written warning. If they were looking to dismiss they would write in the letter "which could result in dismissal"
He will Also have the right of appeal in his outcome letter of his meetin. Sorry am on mu phone so only a short reply. X

Sounds like its a disiplinery meeting, if it is he can refuse to go into it without a representative or witness of his own although sometimes they will have a nueteral witness.
Unless its for gross misconduct ie stealing, fighting, drunk at work, imbessalment then no normaly they can not fire him.
Im surorised they say about a written warning though as the first step is a verbal warning unless he has already had a verbal warning.
it normaly goes verbal warning, disiplinery, two written warnings anouther meeting then fireing (agin though gross misconduct can skip most of those)

He should read his contract to see what the process is because if they dont go about it in a unfair or incorrect manner then he can take it to a work tribunial

Thanks everyone, he knew it was coming but i know his also had a few performance meetings where things have been said in a nasty way to his face and they've been recorded cos they were in the letter too and dont think try resulted in a verbal warning??!!!

Makes me feel better speaking to you ladies - thank you

They dont have to go through all the warnings hun, it depends how serious the issue is. You can skip a verbal and written and go straight to a final written. It really just depends what the situation is  Xx

Depends what he did. Sounds like he had had a few warnings, so it's difficult, and no matter how bad his boss is, he he has had warnings he really should have stopped doing whatever he was warned about. I know guys have been fired in ohs company for things like that, it's difficult because if he has been repeatedly given warnings and taken no heed then I don't see what the company can do but fire him.

I think he needs representation and decide to change, I he goes in apologetic and does actually sort his act out things will probably be fine, it cost ones to hire new people sure they dot want to fire him if he can sort his act out.

It's crap though, my oh work has strict sickness polices, and he has been off twice in the past 6 months and now I have and the kids have been throwing up all weekend, if he gets it he will be in major trouble. It's pants. But rules are rules.
