I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem with their milk not making their baby full enough? My milk seems to go right through my twins. They eat and eat. I pump/express for them so that I know exactly how much they're getting and I feed them until they're very full but not more then an hour or so later they're starving... Is it possible that my milk just isn't enough? Help?!

how old are they? if they are very young they will get hungry very quickly after a feed as their stomachs are tiny and they fill and empty very fast.

I fed my son on demand for the first 6 months and he would eat some days every 45 minutes. BM digests easily so they do get hungrier faster, but as long as they're putting on weight and having plenty of wet diapers there shouldn't be any reason for concern.

No, if they have plenty of wet nappies then theyre getting enough :)

Your bm adjusts to their needs so it's perfect for them. In the early days all babies feed constantly, I was quite shocked at how much he lived on my boobs! It will get easier but be rest assured that your bm is filling them up.

Really young babies will eat ALL day long. Breastmilk is digested very fast through their systems so they will eat more often that a FF baby. If you are getting between 6-8 wet diapers a day, you're fine.

Also it seems to go up and down...I had thought mine was feeding less but just hit 5.5 weeks and today he hasn't stopped feeding! I feel I can cope with it a bit better than at first but I'm assuming it's the 6 week growth spurt.

i'm in the same boat with my newborn, its alot of freakin work because they they do get hungry quickly and feed forever, and I pump to just to give myself a boob break and to let hubby feed also, maybe you can do that if you aren't already? Good luck. Sounds like they are right on track especially if they have alot of wet diapers. Make sure you are eating well. I try to drink alot of water and for early morning feeds I drink a nutritional drink so that I don't feel drained with endurance feedings:)

There can be a funny situation where a mum who actually is oversupply prone can feel that her baby isn't getting enough. It's a slight paradox. If a mum is overproducing milk, the baby (in your case, babies) gets a fully belly of foremilk. The babies never get to the fatty hindmilk which comes at the end of the feed. So the babies have a full belly, for a short period, and then the foremilk produces wind and acid, the babies get tummy ache, they are discontent, they are growing well and getting lots of wet nappies, but they are refluxy colicky unhappy, don't like feeding, and generally it's not working very well. Poo may be watery, green, or infrequent.

This is often combined with forceful let down, when the baby seems to bob off the breast, doesn't like feeding, and mum can jet for England!

Could this apply here?

Thanks for the replies everyone. Both are having a good amount of diapers and they're both putting on weight. I pump for them and I have a double breast pump so I think I'm doing everything I'm suppose to.
