is my son eating too much?

Sounds like Braden, and he'll be four weeks on Thursday. Not sure if your LO is the same, but mine eats and eats and then gets sick sometimes like he over ate.

really? Jonathan stops himself when full for the most part. he hardly ever spits up either. I just cant belive how much he can eat! lol. i tried and failed miserably to breast feed and im very new to this formula thing. what kind do you use?

also, congrats on the birth of baby Braden!! im so happy for you, i know how stressed you were with the high risk pregnancy :hugs:

How much does he have in 24 hours?

If you take his weight & multiply it by 2.5....it will give you the approximate amount in ounces he should have per day....but at his age, I just fed on demand....

My LO drank every 2 hours at that age...

Sounds like my little man! A couple days ago there was an 8hr period where he had 20oz. We make up 5oz bottles and he'll finish it and then sometimes still be looking for more milk.

Glad others have little hungry Horace's too hah

Yup thats absolutely fine :). My DD3 is 13 weeks old and has 6-8oz every 2-3 hours, and at your sons age was having 4-5oz every 2-3 hours! xx

he weighed 8lb 4 oz last week, and if i go by the 2.5 oz for each pound, hes def over eating! he eats up to 32 oz a day. im worried im doing something wrong! i heard they should never have more then 32 oz a day, but the other day he had 34. he has about 10 bottles in 24 hours. someone told me he should only have 6-8. the most hes had in one day is 34 oz.

Ive also heard that in the US they say no more than 32oz formula per day, but I find this really absurd! My DD3 weighs around 15lbs so with the 2.5oz per lbs rule she should be having 37-38oz per day, which she does easily. There is no way she would be satisfied with 32oz or less per day! Here in the UK we are advised to feed on demand whether BF or FF. Giving baby a feed whenever they show hunger signs, which tbh makes perfect sense to me. xxx

My LO was having 90mls every 2 hours and projectile vomiting. As first time parents, we had no idea it was from over feeding him, he was waking up showing us hunger cues so naturally, we fed him. We then spaced his feeds to 3 hours, sometimes 3.5 or 4 and he's not vomiting anymore. He's not happy waiting it out though :( But we have no other option or he vomits everywhere!!

I'm currently mix feeding and was wondering this!
I hate my leaking, painful breasts but can't make the swap altogether :(
I'm using karicare aptimal
Gold and it says 1-2 months should be having 150ml 5-6x a day, well he is a small 5 week old and not satisfied with that! He had a formula bottle just 2.5 hours ago and was screaming so I've got him on boob now since he apparently shouldn't be having more formula for another 1.5 hours.

Its all so confusing. He has never vomited and rarely spits up. He stops eating when he gets full and would be screaming constantly if i limited his feeds..

My little man was 6lb 10 born in ICU for 2 weeks and not fed the first week in there. At the moment he is having upto 50oz a day. Which if you go off his weight is 20oz too much. He rarely spits up. And is happy taking his 7oz bottles. But where's currently 6-7 bottles a day!! He wasn't waking through the night and at the moment he's waking every 2 hours. I'm kinda at my wits end as I can't feed him hungry baby milk.. As much as I think he needs it.

I don't think your little one is over eating. As they say as long as they are putting on weight that's all that matters. Xxx

I have nevre heard of hungry baby formula. what is that?

Do they not do that in the states? SMA APTAMIL and Cow and gate over here all do a formula called hungry baby it makes the baby feel fuller for longer. Xxx

i dont think they do that here. interesting. today, jonathan had 37 ounces.
