My daughter will be 5 months on the 26th. She was eating about 30oz a day, some more some less. Her dr said that I could start her on solids, just rice cereal and pureed fruit/veg. I did and she did great, absolutely loved it. She laughed and kicked and was just the happiest thing.

But she has dropped her formula intake:dohh:. At first, I just thought maybe she just wasnt hungry after eating the solids. So I moved her feedings to the evenings (except when I introduce a new food, to watch for allergies) and she still was dropping her formula.

Yesterday she only ate about 16oz, had one serving of rice and some squash all day!! Today she ate a little more had 18-20oz no solids. She is about 14LBS and if you go by the 2.5xLBS, she is suppose to be eating 35oz per day!!:nope: She will just drink an oz or 2 then play with it.

Should I be worried? Should I call her dr? she is having wet diapers and regular BMs, she makes tears when she cries, no fever, dr said she wasnt teething yet (dont feel any teeth coming in when she sticks my finger in her mouth) I dont know if she has lost any weight as she hasnt been weighed since her last appointment almost a month ago...

She doesnt wake up hungry and will go a couple hours before she is interested in eating. She will just play with the nipple or turn her head. Even at her night time feeding she doesnt really drink it, just seems to chew on the nipple til she falls asleep.

Am I being silly? Could she just be going through a slow period? I am afraid she isnt getting the correct nutrition she needs?

Any advice is greatly appreciated....:hugs:

Maybe she was growing and maybe she's growing less now? I don't know. I tend to trust babies to eat what they need. If she seems to be happy and healthy, I'd just go with it.

Are you in the UK? I know that a lot of babies including mine are not eating much because of the heat. I would they offering water to make sure she is hydrated.

I was going off 2.5ozs/lb, but saw Paeds last week who said they do 100mls/kg. off the old calculations lo should be on 57oz!! Off new calculations should be on 30oz which is roughly what he takes :)

He has dropped ozs in this heat though :)

I live in the USA, Texas to be exact with 100+° days everyday (yay). I guess she could be dropping oz cause of it but that many?

I guess I'll wait to see how she does and if she continues I'll call her Dr in the am...

Thanks ladies...
