My daughter is 3 and 1/2 and has autism, she's semi verbal recently she's been having bad tantrums/meltdowns and everytime she does she tugs at her pull up or try's to take it off. Even tho she doesn't tell me she's going to the toilet is this her way of telling me she's ready or could it be something else?

I'd love to know the answer too!

The good thing is its one of the first steps - she's showing shes aware she's wet.

Maybe. Have you tried sitting her on the toilet?

Claire has Autism and was the same, her tantrums actually would stem from her inability to actually take off the pull up as she's still behind in gross/fine motor skills. :flower:

She very well could be ready! We did the no-diaper and reward for her when she'd actually sit on the potty and go to the bathroom. We had tried it before, it didn't work out so well so we backed off for a bit (didn't make a big deal about it - just went back to pull ups) then tried again.

Good luck!
