I've heard talk of a 4 month sleep regression. I've also seen several threads on here about 4 month+ babies waking several times a night,

Rosie has (mostly) slept 7-7 with a dream feed at 11pm. She occaisionally wakes at 4/5am for an extra feed.

I hate the thought of going back to sleepless nights but also want to be prepared if this is inevitable.

Can any Mum's of older babies let me know what I'm in for...please break it to me gently

Thanks :flower:

Oh heck yes! But some do not go through it.

Some babies aren't affected by it, but it's a period of brain development that affected their sleep, so I think most do. We had 3 month growth spurt, 4 month sleep regression and then straight into 6 month growth spurt. And our LO was never a good sleeper to start with. So. Very. Tired!

Ohhh I have everything crossed she is one of the few....she has been a good sleeper since around 12 weeks, so I've had reasonable sleep most nights for the last 6 weeks - amazing!!! I can't imagine going back to feeding every 2-3 hours.

Is there anything I can do to help keep things this way? X

Ava slept through the night from 2 to 4.5 months old. Then out of no where she was back to waking 2-3 times a night sometimes to eat other times just because. She didnt start sleeping through again until she was 9.5 months old.

Heres to hoping your LO doesnt go through the 4 month sleep regression.

for us it was definately developmental ( with teething and a growth spurt at 6 months thrown in!)

he'd never sttn but he was a nightmare from 4.5 months to about 9 months at worst waking every 45 min. everytime he learned something new he practised it in his sleep waking himself (and me - i coslept to try and get some sleep). he'd wave all night for a week then clap his hands for a week, roll over and not get back etc. there was a significant improvement once he learned to crawl propoerly at about 11 months and he's even slept through a few nights!

i just think it effects some more than others and if it hits theres not much to do but ride it out!

YES!!!...help...lol

We thought we were getting into it earlier this week as she started waking for a bottle about 5am, but we upped her food in the day and now she is back to sleeping. Fingers crossed it stays that way!
