Is there any way of shifting baby's 'longest' sleep time?

I know my lo is only just under 5 weeks so is very small but she seems to have her longest sleep period in the earlier part of the evening/night, for example, last night it was 7-7:30pm, 2am, 4:30am and 7am. So she went roughly 7 hours early on but then it was back to 2-3 hours after. If only she had done 11-6 I would have thrown a party this morn!! Lol

There's probably no answers, I'm just wondering if I was to start a routine or something it may help?

N.b my son didn't sleep through til he was over 1 so I'm pretty much expecting my daughter to follow suit! Lol x

Hi,
If it helps, this is what our LO did and still does now. [edited]For some babies if you feed them at 11pm they'll then sleep through to around 6/7am, but that never worked for my LO. She'd always continue to work at the same times.
Suppose she'll start to extend that time she sleeps from 7pm, so now it's 2am for you, but later, she'll start to go longer?

Some people do what is known as a dream feed so you get them up to feed around 10-11pm. Just wake them gently by changing and then feed. They probably won't feed as much as usual as they'll be sleepy but it's supposed to then set them up for their long sleep.

Here's some info: https://www.babyexpert.com/baby/sleeping-crying/what-is-a-dream-feed/1132.html

We dont do a dream feed, but instead give LO her last feed at 9pm. She goes to bed after this and sleeps through til 6am then goes back to sleep til 10am. Its fab. She started this just before 8 weeks n is now 11 weeks. Maybe try something like that, but as u said your LO is still very young so might adapt on their own in time xx

Agreed this helps alot,my LO's dream feed is never at 10-11pm though as that's the time he goes to bed for the night because we are night owls lol. He dream feeds around 3-4am sometimes. :)

I worry that with a dream feed she'll wake up and I'll have disturbed her?

I personally wouldn't try and mess with it too much. If anything I would move up bedtime. My LO followed a similar pattern. He goes to bed around 9:00/9:30. He slept til 3:30 around 5 weeks then up again at 6. Then he stretched it til 4:30 at 6 weeks. He slept til 6:30 starting 7 weeks. Now he sleeps til nearly 7:30 at 8 weeks. I think it progresses like that. By 12 weeks they are capable of sleeping 12 hours. So aside from moving bedtime up I wouldn't mess with it because their first sleep will gradually get longer and longer (usually) until that is their only sleep. It sounds like your little one is following my lo's pattern. Maybe in 3 weeks you'll be getting 9 hours of sleep like I am, it's amazing!!!!!

Not saying this happens for everyone but physically almost all babies are able to go 8 hours between feeds at around 6 weeks and 12 by 12 weeks. Comfort may be a different story. also there are still a few nights he wakes up in between but now he started stirring and putting himself right back to sleep.

I will my little one would do that long I am jealous his longesr stretch is 3-4 hours

My dd done what your lo does so I started half waking her up at about half 10 and giving her a bottle she will only take 5 ounces tho she normally has 7 so she now sleeps from half 6 wake her up b4 I go bed then she stays asleep til 7
