Is this early labor?

At this point in my pregnancy, labor will no longer be stopped at my hospital. So I'm avoiding going in like the plague because being strapped to machines and forced to lay on my back in bed sounds excruciating.

This is my first baby. I have struggled with BHs since about 20 weeks and have had contractions stopped with medication at 32 weeks. The contractions stayed infrequent until Tuesday.

Starting on Tuesday, the contractions developed a bit of a pattern. The pain I felt was like having an extremely full bladder about to bust (resulting in many bathroom trips that produced nothing and I do not have a UTI). For two days, they came 24/7 sometimes in 3-4 minute intervals, sometimes in 13-15 minute intervals. Yesterday, they started coming every 8-15 min and while timing was fairly consistent, pain was not. I had a couple an hour that were strong enough to almost panic me, no position was comfortable during them, lower back/tailbone pressure and the bladder pressure along with the extreme tightening (short torso, so these made it difficult to breathe).
As of this morning they are 10-20 minutes apart but I'm irritable and struggle to talk through them. Their intensity is consistent. I'm on the lookout for increase in frequency.

I haven't slept well for three nights now these contractions wake me up. I drink plenty of water and I'm on bed rest so I haven't overworked my body. Nothing stops them.. not movement or position change, not rest or a hot shower.

Does this sound like early early labor? Or am I going to be miserable for the next 4+ weeks?

If your waters go or you have 4 contractions in 10 minutes that are roughly a minute long, ring in. Other than that the MW's won't do anything.
I had terrible BH! I couldn't move from pain and was leaning on walls, chairs etc and couldn't breathe.
Try relax. If walking about, bathing, etc eases it then do that.

I checked myself two days in a row (very clean hands, didn't try poking IN my cervix, just swept finger over top) and my cervix had thinned by half and was a bit more open. So these contractions do seem to be doing something, just slowly. But I'm ok with that, he needs to wait another week, preferably two
I may ask to be checked officially at my next appointment on Thursday.
