I'm feeding my baby aptamil due to a lack of BM. I do express too and today I noticed Freya was gagging and choking on my EBM. But then the feeds after which were aptamil she does the same, takes a few gulps and then chokes and throws up. Then wants more, takes a few gulps and it cycles like that!

The bottles we use are tommee tippee closer to nature with slow flow teats.

Please what are we doing wrong?

Thanks

It sounds like she may have reflux, hun. Carmen used to do the same, minus the throwing up because she had silent reflux. She would gag and choke even with the slow-flow teats, and start coughing. Might be worth taking your LO to the doctor, nothing to worry about but if she does have reflux the doctor will be able to advise you. :)

My LO does the same, on every feed she gags and chokes, she is sometimes sick but mostly it's just gagging and choking. She also does this randomly through the day, I think she is being sick and then swallowing it..... any advice would be appreciated.... I really don't know what to do with her, she seems so distressed the past couple of days.

Definitely ask your Dr. Mika had similar symptoms and was diagnosed with reflux. After some modifications to his feeding (thickened milk, staying upright more, Dr. Brown's bottles) and a prescription for Rantidine he is doing much much better. He has been a much happier baby too once we solved that and his allergies!

Could be reflux. Omar used to do the same & he was diagnosed with reflux when he was 3 wks old. Ask her Dr. about it. We switched to Dr browns bottles, & we'r using Anti reflux formula which made a big difr. xx

I agrEe It could be that your LO has reflux. Kent had it for a little while and it was scary. We gave him infant powder gaviscon in his feeds and it seemed to help clear it up really well, maybe try that? Hope it gets better Soon, I know how scary it can be to see someone so little to gag and choke

Yes sounds like reflux, Nathan has it really bad. He did have it when i breastfed too. How long has it being going on for? If it is a problem the doc can help you out.

Does it happen when feeding on the breast? if not it could be a bottle/formula problem.
