Molly seems to be in a LOT of discomfort after her bottles. She has always had relly bad problems bringing up her wind. Gripe water seems to help a bit with this. Even if she has burped (when she occaisionally does), she writhes around a lot and goes really red sometimes. She is often sick quite a lot after her bottles too, sometimes up to an hour after. We have tried keeping her upright after her bottles which seems to help, but when we put her down to sleep she is in a lot of discomfort. I hate seeing her like this.

Are any of these symptoms of reflux or anything or does it sound like she just has trouble with wind? Thanks

May is exactly the same, you are the only other person I have heard describe it the same as May's behaviour - the writhing about - she waves her arms and legs and squirms and arches her back and goes red. The only difference, May is hardly ever sick now but she used to be until about a month ago,.....all down her nose most times.
She's a total gem the rest of the time, its just linked to feeds.

To be honest, I have tried most things, gripe water (I thought it was just wind too), infacol, colief, gaviscon....none of them worked. HV says its borderline colic (she is not crying all evening or anything, so only borderline) and has suggested trying her on aptamil milk to see if it helps. I am gonna get some tomorrow.

Hopefully they will grow out of it, I hate seeing May like this too.

That does sound exactly the same. Have tried Infacol and gripe water so far. Have to check everything first before giving it as she is so tiny still (premmie). Molly's is just linked to feeds too, I dread feeding time. Poor them x

Oh, forgot to say...
One thing that has helped a bit is feeding her in her chair. She has one of those spring bouncer chair things (dead cheap from mothercare) and if I feed her while she sits in that, it seems to help a little bit....must be the position letting her digest the milk better?

I've got one of those, just waiting for her to grow in to it!

Me too, she is so happy and smiley until feed time....and boy does she scream when she's hungry!
The only thing I haven't tried is dentinox drops, gonna give them a go next!
People keep telling me she'll grow out of it at 3 months but no signs so far

LeeAnne does the exact same thing! Her arms and legs go flailing everywhere, her back arches right up and she turns almost purple in the face! I dread feeding time as it takes forever to wind her and then when I do she is up for 2-3 hours after being fed! It can be soooo frustrating as I have NO idea what to do..its so hard seeing her in discomfort!!

Girls - that really does sound like reflux or silent (acid) reflux if they are not being sick. My baby girl has it and it is dreadful so i feel your pain! Go and see your GPs and tell them you think they may have reflux - mention the back arching and being linked to feeds as these are clear symptoms - Amelia is now on gaviscon amd two meds. They do help somewhat but we still have our bad days/nights....

Hope you het to the bottom of their distress soon -

PS - maybe you could do a separate post asking Ryder for advice as her liile one has reflux and she has given myself and others on here some fab tips like feeding them as upright as possible, keep them upright for a good 30 mins after feeding, elevate the end of their cot/mosses basket so they do not lay flat at night..... xx

My daughter was exactly the same. I tried gripe water, infocol etc etc and nothing worked. I switched to Dr Browns bottles and within a week all the pain and crying stopped. She is still sick (alot) and nothing I have tried has worked with that. I have been told that it isnt reflux because it is not projectile.
Dr Browns were recommended to me and I would highly recommend them to anyone whose little one is getting bad stomach pain from wind.
I hope you find an answer soon!
xxx

Just to update you girls, swapped May onto Aptamil extra milk yesterday and she is instantly better....she hardly seems to get the discomfort now. I guess the cow and gate stuff wasn't agreeing with her. The Aptamil looks more watery so I guess its easier to digest? She seems to like it too, and is still feeding the same amount even tho its hungry baby milk (HV thought the first version might not satisfy her)

Hope you other girls find an answer to solve your little one's discomfort x
