I made up a bottle of formula this morning at 11am and my hubby has just given it to LO now at 5.50pm. It has been in the change bag at room temp all day.

It was put in the microwave for 10 secs before giving it but was hardly warm.

He seems to think this is ok, but i thought it only lasted 2 hrs?!

Can LO get poorly now?

According to current guidelines, it should be thrown away after two hours unless it's been refrigerated. Keeping it at room temperature and then warming it isn't enough.

I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you - the guidelines are just a precaution against potential bacterial contamination, it's not a given that any particular bottle will contain something dodgy. Your LO will probably be fine :flower:

I wouldn't make a habit of doing it. It should be ok this time, but like gingernut said it should be refridgerated or used within 2 hours.

Once the powder is mixed with water there is the possibility of bacteria growing, so it's better not to take the risk.

Yeah, don't panic yourself this time but don't do it again :flower: x

Def not good, but if LO drank it already, try not to worry :hugs: :hugs: Kinda like milk going bad.

I'm sure it won't hurt this one time but try not to make a habit of it!

Also I would try to avoid heating bottles in the microwave. It can be a cause for hot spots

I wouldnt necessarily have waited that long but I frequently make up a bottle before I go out with boiling water and by the time it comes to feed LO the bottle is just about the right temp.. although I have done the same as you a couple of times an no harm has come to my LO

re the microwave heating.. i do this all the time, it'll only casue hotspots if the bottle is not shaken well before giving to LO

Me too! For the first few months I carefully heated it up with hot water - it took ages. Now I zap it in the microwave, shake it like mad and hey presto - a warm bottle in no time!

As for leaving the bottle at room temp - I'd not leave it that long but I wouldn't worry too much. I'm sure your LO will be fine as 2 hours is only a guideline. :hugs:
