Is this true or is she talking rubbish?

No way, i am pretty sure it is around 20% of all pregnancies end up in miscarriage during the first trimester. After that, the statistics keep falling rapidly. So of course there is always a risk but i wouldn't let that worrying you.

20% end up in miscarriage in the first trimester. Once the heartbeat is found this drops to 5% in the first trimester. Odds lower significantly again in the second and third trimester.

You might want to tell this individual she'd be better off checking her facts before going around scaring pregnant ladies silly. It's not a clever position to be in.

shes nasty! who even says this to a pregnant lady? id stay away from her.. shes bad news xxxHugsxxx

Some people need to think before they speak. A lady I teach went into great detail last week discussing how she lost her baby at 28 weeks.... I was like, wtf! I dont need to b hearing this.

As it turned out she has underlying problems that mean it was unlikely she would ever carry let alone conceive. So after all that worry she caused me, the facts werent quite as first thought. Sounds kinda like these untrue statistics spouted by your colleague at work.

Take no notice. All our wee babies will b born just fine. Positive thoughts xxx

What an idiot? Is she an obgyn? I have pcos so am at an higher risk of mc. I had a scan with a specialist consultant at 8 weeks and he said that from the development and hb that there was a 98% of carrying to full term. It was basically a similar scan to a 12 week one. Ignore her!

Wow - what a cruel thing to say - and utter bull to boot. There is no way those "statistics" are right. If anything it's backwards - and even 25% of viable ending in miscarriage seems like too large a number to me.

But really - who in the world says that kind of things to a pregnant woman? This is a coworker? I'd be after her job.

Thanks everyone for replying :hugs: After reading your responses it's made me more certain than ever that this woman is a complete b*tch! I suspected her bullsh*t statistics were a load of rubbish but the slightest thing makes me panic these days  Never liked her anyway and this comment was the final nail in the coffin. Wishing you all H&H pregnancies :flower:
