Since we've been TTC, my best friend has been thinking about when the days come for her and her boyfriend to start TTC too. She's worried that because she weighs so little that it'll be hard for her, or hurt the baby somehow.. She's gone to the doctor and they say she's healthy and there isn't a problem, she just has a really high matabulism(sp?).. she's 20 and weighs 105, I think. Is there anyone else out there that is real tiny, but have had a baby with no problems? I wanna give her a peace of mind. Also, do you show sooner being so small? Thanks in advance ladies! :)

Nicole Ritchie just gave birth to a healthy baby, and before she got pregnant she was suffering from eating disorders and weighed no more than 90lbs!! I even wondered how she'd "fit it all in there" but she blossomed throughout her pregnancy without any complications :D.

My best friends sister is quite similar. She did have an eating disorder for a couple of years but has been much better since being married. She still doesn't eat a lot but she does her best because she knows she has too in order to concieve.

She did find it hard the first time. It took over a year for her 1st and they've been trying again for a good 6 months or more now but she's medically underweight for her height.

Saying that I was slightly medically underweight for my height too and I have no problem with eating. I've just always been like that, I guess like your friend. As this is my normal weight I had no problem TTC.

If she has regular periods then it's a good sign because if you are too much under or over they become irregular or stop.

wow, you're right! forgot about her.. good point! thanks! i'll remind her of that.. she's wayy healthier than nicole richie probably ever was too. she probably has nothing to worry about!

yeah, she has normal periods. i told her she's fine time after time, but she always worrys. i'm going to show her your replys.. hopefully that will convince her! what about starting to show.. was it sooner than usual?

Not really. I just looked bloated till about 17 or 18 weeks.

My friends sister that I was talking about was well past 20 weeks before she started showing and she went back to having a flat stomach very soon after having her baby too. She didn't even get stretch marks but I unfortunatly have.

aw, things work in mysterious ways!

It's medically proven that lack of nourishment affects fertility but as long as she's eating fine, that's not a problem. The biggest risk to fertility is being overweight.

Although, weight can affect fertility. Doctors recommend that if you want to ttc you should be at a healthy weight. I think if you are extremely underweight or overweight and are worried because your periods have stopped, that can be a reason.

However, as those have mentioned, there are those, like Nicole Ritchie who are very thin and go on to get pregnant.
