My Izzy is now nearly 2 weeks old, here's her birth story :)

After a relatively uncomplicated pregnancy, madam decided to go transverse/breech at 36-37 weeks, I had an ECV and she got distressed so they had to stop. C section was booked for the 3rd Oct!

Got to hospital at 8am, was gowned and told I was second so should be done by 10, was excited because I was starving lol had to fast from midnight.. 10 came and went, everyone on my ward had dinner but me :( was told there was a lot of emergencies that obviously took priority.. At about 2 I was feeling dizzy so they set my drip up with fluids as I was getting dehydrated, OH spent the time playing angry birds lol! I had a little fed up cry because I was staaaaaaarving and they offered him dinner.

Finally at 4 they came down for me and fear set in, OH went to put scrubs on whilst I was set up in theatre - they were all lovely! The anaesthetic they do before the spinal really wasn't that bad and I wondered why I'd been so scared! Didn't feel the spinal at all and within 2mins I was lay back with numb legs! I suddenly went reaaaally cold and was shaking uncontrollably (OH thought I was having a fit because that's when he came in :/)

They sprayed to see if I could feel it and the man got it in my bloody eye, which we all thought was hilarious :haha: then they started cutting.. She came out and they gave her to my OH because I was shaking too much otherwise I'd have had immediate skin to skin. They went to recovery and I was stitched up for an hour! It really didn't feel long at all, seemed like 10min since I'd had the spinal! Spent half hour in recovery til I stopped shaking and was BFing like a trooper :) was so lovely! I stopped after a few days as her blood sugar dropped too low no matter how much she fed so they had to supplement her with formula and then she wouldn't latch again!

Recovery has been relatively easy, stayed dosed up on painkillers at hospital and was discharged with a weeks worth. Now 1wk5days later I don't need them! The first 4 days were uncomfortable, I wouldn't say painful unless I coughed/sneezed but even they were ok if I held a pillow to my stomach. It's been hard getting from lying to standing and did actually feel like I was bursting open if I got up too fast but nothing major, wound is healing fine too!

Isabelle Alexa was born at 39+1 at 4:47pm weighing a tiny 5lb13oz :cloud9: perfect little lady!

Here is Izzy and also a pic of my scar at a week pp, mainly because I wish others had posted some before I had it done to reassure me :)
