My DS is 9 months. He's been going to the same daycare with the same teacher since January. She recently quit, so the new teacher started today. I had an open mind. I came back to pick my son up and she kept him up for SIX HOURS STRAIGHT. And then he only took a 20 minute nap. There's a sample schedule on his sheet that I've filled out and specifically states he needs a nap every three hours. He was crying, whiny and so overtired. I finally got him settled for the night but it was horrible. I plan on going over that he needs a nap every three hours, or he's unmanageable. She believes that if he was truly tired, he would of fell asleep playing. Which isn't true. He takes a while to fall asleep and needs a little assistance.

Wow, that is unbelievable! Does she has ANY daycare experience? Every single baby is different and she should be listening to the directions you provided! Without he effort to actually settle my dd down and physically PUT her to sleep, she would literally never fall asleep (and just end up screaming all night unable to sleep because of overtiredness). There is no way she can expect a baby to just fall asleep while playing If tired! Wow! I would be so annoyed.

Er what!? Is she crazy? A LOT of babies don't 'just fall asleep'. 6 hours straight is too long for any baby under a year old. If he didn't want to fall asleep despite trying then fair enough. A daycare should be trying to make a parents life better with sleep not worse. I'd be pretty fuming

Surely there must be someone else there who is working with her, right? Did they just not train her? It sounds like maybe she is just overwhelmed and hasn't been properly trained for the needs of the babies in her care. I would speak to her again and then whoever is working with her or supervising her. I think definitely a red flag though that she's not following the plan designed for a particular child. I'd have a word with her again and the manager. It's probably a smaller setting, but where my daughter goes, there are 5-6 teachers and about 20-25 kids, depending on the day. So even if a new person starts (one did recently because someone went out on maternity leave), there are still 4-5 other people there in the same room who know my child well and could work with a new staff member to get them used to meeting her needs.

The teacher who quit still hasn't left yet. She's finishing out her two week notice. She told the other teacher that he often naps at least every three hours. She responded with that if he was really tired he would fall asleep. She even went to the supervisior and mentioned that he hasn't been down for a nap and that's odd, and the supervisior yelled at her! Actually made her cry. I spoke with the new teacher and told her he has to, no expection be put down every three hours. She has been the past few days, but I was just irritated.

The teacher who is quitting is one of my good friends. I work for the daycare, just at their other location. I will be transferring to his location before fall.
