my nearly 3yr old turned the hob on and when i explained he shouldnt do that he would get burnt he said

not you hand

he calls himself you as he cant say ethan
when he wee,s he says

not you willy

ive tried explaining that they are attached to him so needs to get them to behave ...any ideas

I don't have any advice sorry - maybe its just a phase though that he'll grow out of and soon start to realise that all his parts are connected x

My son is 2 and a half and is always touching things he shouldn't (he likes to switch the kettle on even though I've told him no and that the kettle is hot). Although Charlie does know he is doing wrong and always says sorry sorry sorry when he gets told off, I can understand why your LO might react the way he does. I think sometimes children are almost compelled to touch things they know they shouldn't and so maybe that's what he means? He genuinely can't help himself... Hmm now for the tricky part I think you're doing absolutely the right thing as you're explaining to him why he must not touch these things, have you tried asking him to tell his hands not to touch? Lol I know that sounds so odd...just thought if nothing else you may hear him telling himself no and get to him before he can touch anything that might hurt him... Charlie will tell himself off if he drops something for example he'll say "OH Charlie!! Look what you've done" and if he does something he shouldn't I'll hear him saying "thats naughty" and I'll say what have you done and he'll tell me. I hope it helps hun, but as AC81 says he will probably grow out of it. xxx

Dec does this, if I tell him not to touch something he will pull his sleeve down and touch it with his sleeve !!!! When I repeat do not touch he will say, "t.shirt do it" (he calls all tops t-shirts) and the same thing with his feet if he kicks and I say no, he will do it again and say "shoe do it", but Dec is going through a phase of blaming other people and telling lies, he will hit someone and say no such and such done it, or if someone pushes him he will come and tell me that that person punched him hard !!!! I dont know I though it was just a phase.
