I have the most intense itching of my life! This is not the first time I have been woke up out of a dead sleep to itch and itch. Tonight I have been awake for three hours scratching and I called labor and delivery and they said I must be allergic to something. I feel like I am going to crawl out of my own skin. It is 2:15 am and I am going to run to the store for benadryl. Pray it helps!! I cannot imagine ending up in the E.R. with this symptom. I will sound like a tweaker.

Aww Hun I know the feeling! Try a cool shower, loads of moisturiser and thin cotton/summer weight pjs.

My back was that bad last night I stripped off in the lounge and made OH smother me in Aveno! The relief was amazing! Xx

Are you still itching.

If so call your doctor/midwife. You need to rule out obstetric Cholestasis. There's a sticky about it at the top!

I second Bean- You need to see a GP as soon as possible to rule out obstetric Cholestasis

I agree, iv been itchy last couple of weeks. Told my mw and she took bloods just to be sure. Thankfully they came back as normal. But itching is something they take seriously

I just called my ob doctor. I have an appt in 2 hours. I am SHOCKED they let me come in. I have called twice with concerns in the last 32 weeks, once being bleeding, and was told it was normal and to go to labor and delivery if I have "labor like pains". I am so thankful I at least get to go be checked. I am hoping he orders a blood test. I have gallstones so I wonder if that could actually cause that liver problem?

My legs are really itchy again! I had it at 34 weeks and ended up at L&D thinking it was OC - bloods came back all clear thankfully but it's so bloody annoying!
How did you get on at the appointment? Xx

I had a blood test and they haven't got the results back yet, but they just called and said my potassium level is really low! (nothing to do with itching) My regular doctor was gone for the day, so the on call doctor sent my pills to the wrong pharmacy and I am now trying to locate them! If it's not one thing, it's six others. My doc just said keep taking benadryl...75mg is fine he said. Hoping and praying it does not come back tonight. Although with the low potassium levels, at least I can now figure out why I ache and am so darn tired all the time!

The itching is definitely the most horrible symptom! Mines feels like sore wee pins and needles. Once I scratch its away... Then it's another part of my leg! So annoying!

Sure low potassium is pretty treatable with the right antibiotics and most women go back to normal once the baby is here - another one of the joyous things our unborns give us lol

Hope your bloods come back normal, I'm sure they will be! :) xx

Thank you! Hope you feel better too.

Glad you got checked. Fingers crossed its not OC, but I do think gallstones can cause it. Good they found the low potassium. Hope you found the pills. Eat some bananas and Brazil nuts too.

I am still searching for the pills. So frustrating! I was told to take TEN before bed so was hoping to get going on that! LOL. I am hoping OC comes back negative too, but sitting here itching my hands as I type. Pregnancy is so not nice to me.

I have gotten to were i itch a lot at night when i get in the bed. Not every night but a good 3 or 4 times a week... and i could go crazy. I thought it was something up with our bed or sheets or something... lol... i washed them and put different ones on and still itch like crazy, DH doesn't have a problem. Must just be me...

I would go get a blood test. Apparently that condition can be serious. Sounds like it caught and monitored, it is controllable. Good luck. I was told I can take 75 mg of benadryl every 6 hours.

My face, arms, legs and hands have been ridiculously itchy for weeks. My face itches so badly it actually looks like I have a black eye from scratching so much (usually subconsciously in my sleep). I hope all you itchy ladies find some relief soon! It's definitely no fun!

For those if you itchy that haven't had blood tests you need to get checked out as this could be obstetric cholestasis there is a sticky thread at the top of third tri xx
