I just wanted to pop in and say hello, it's be ages since I last posted...I am not even sure how long! Lakai is now 17 months corrected and doing really well. He isn't walking yet.. but has taken like 7-8 steps unaided, we are hoping more will follow soon. He is talking up a storm though and currently says "mom, ma, dad, dada, flag, buuuz (for bus), dog, wow (favorite word by FAR!), bye, ball, baba (his nick name), water, bottle, flower, what's dis?, hi, maow maow (for cat), what, book, duck, bear, wheel and a lot of other gibberish words we haven't placed as anything yet.
He is waving, crawling (I think TOO well and this is why he isn't walking more yet), signing, climbing (on EVERYTHING!), clapping, copying everything and so much more.
He has remained in awesome health, has not been ill *knock on wood*. He did however have to have his g-tube surgically reinserted when it came out during the night and the stoma closed over. That was really not fun, but he recovered and was back to his happy self in a few short days.
He is eating orally like a champ and has an amazingly huge appetite..yet is still long and thin, weighing 22lbs at his last check up.
We were at the respirologist a few weeks ago and he said that Lakai's lungs are "clear as a bell" sound and on the xrays. He has no BPD or CL, and has very healthy lungs for a preemie. He also said...........that this time next year he thinks Lakai's g-tube will be out! WOOHOO This summer has been really difficult between it coming out due to faulty parts and Lakai now asking for "water" all the time. It is so stressful and heart breaking denying him what he wants, I have decided to go with my gut and have given him sips of water. And he has done just fine.
I think that's almost it...we did just find out that we had Lakai's gestational birth age wrong, it was off by a week. And Lakai was actually 23.4 weeks old when he was born! We ran into our OB who told us that, she also said that had we known and stated that when I went into labor (I did the math in my head in all the confusion/fear of my water breaking and being in labor. And there wasn't time to get my chart from my doctor to the hospital where I was)..that they would not have sent me to the hospital where Lakai was delivered. Because the hospital where I started and the doctors I was being cared for by, stick to 24 weeks being viable. And would have delivered Lakai as a miscarriage!
Thank god for poor record transfers and my ability to do math.
I think that is really it! I don't know if I will be around very much, but I am going to try! I am so busy keeping up with this little man! hehe
Here are some recent pics....
Love to all of you!
