Isn't that too late? Dr told me to trigger tomorrow at 930 and then my IUI isn't scheduled till Monday at 245, isn't that too late, I would think I'd have already ovulated but maybe I should trust the dr...I dunno what to think - any advice? Feel like I'm wasting a cycle :(

I did my IUI 36 hours post trigger, but the egg does live for 24 hours and I did feel my ovulation about 2 hours prior to my IUI (therefore I ovulated 34 hours post trigger). The eggies will live up to 24 hours after ovulation, therefore in your case ... the egg should still be a-okay for at least 6 hours after your IUI (if you were to ovulate early lets say at 24 hours past trigger) and it takes the sperm just a few minutes to find the egg.

If you are thinking maybe that's too long than can you just trigger yourself a few hours earlier??

Good luck :)

Thank you! I didnt even think of the fact that the egg lives up to 24 hours!
I was thinking of triggering a little late but I keep telling myself to just trust the doctor and hope for the best.

Maybe you could call them and ask them if that amount of time is standard or if the weekend is playing a part in it? It may ease your mind. and I would BD today just to be sure. That way you have some little guys hanging around in there ahead of time just in case.

They actually just called and moved it to 1pm so i guess thats close enough. And he did say to try on our own tonight and then nothing more till after the IUI. gotta love Drs orders lol

I hear ya on questioning the timing- my doc wanted me to do the trigger last night and then the IUI this morning- like less than 24 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone else I read does it like 36 hours.. well maybe I shouldn't have but I triggered myself earlier in the afternoon so it wasn't so close to the IUI time. Timing is so crucial- I don't get how one doctor picks one timeframe and another doctor does something totally different!

Best of luck to you!! :hugs:

Thanks! That does sound early, glad you took it into your own hands :)
Ok i have another question, last month they triggered for me at the office this time I have to do it on my own, do you guys take it out of the fridge and trigger right away or wait for it to get to room temperature? I feel like it will sting if it's so cold? Thanks for the advice!

I take it out of the fridge and trigger right away. It didn't sting me. I have done trigger's many times and I also use FSH injections many times that are refrigerated too. I never notice it being cold. :)

dang. are you supposed to refrigerate it?? I was never told that nor did I read that anywhere.. I took something different but still same concept isn't it?? Mine didn't sit out long anyway I suppose~ I got it from the pharmacy around 9:30-10am and did the trigger shot around 1pm...

My package said to refrigerate and came with an ice pack, it's Ovidrel. I think you should be ok if it didn't say anything and you took it so soon after getting it.
Thanks again for the info momtoonr-btw ur one is adorable!!

You'll be fine Holly :) I did that with my first HCG trigger shot too. I picked it up from the pharmacy and put it on the kitchen counter. After a few hours I started to get interested in how it worked so I was reading the pamphlet that came with it and noticed it said to refrigerate. WHooops! My scan showed that I ovulated so it still worked. I'm sure if I left it out overnight then maybe it would've been an issue, but it was fine :) :flower:

If I end up taking again~ I'll ask the pharmacist. To me- that's something important and should be like on the bag or something. ((SIGH)) Oh well- it wasn't out that long - maybe 3 hours or so..

So you had a scan before your IUI??? Do they typically do that?

In January I tried doing a "non-IUI" month, so I just did Femara & Pregnyl (I'd never used Pregnyl before) with BD'ing ... she monitored me via U/S ... Before and after just to make sure I didn't have any cysts during the cycle. So 2 days after trigger my ovaries were clean ... no follicles. (therefore they dropped).

NOW, when I went back to my fertility doctor in February ... he does not monitor the follicles after the trigger shot. But because I am so loaded on meds (and have MULTIPLE follicles) I can always feel them "pop out". It's really painful but for only a few hours.

ah ok.. that makes sense.

I've been crampy since I woke up.. but nothing too major. I am guessing I probably haven't ovulated.. 36 hours will be like 1am tonight.. we'll see what happens. I am curious to see if I will notice ovulation this time after taking the trigger shot and all.

Do you think taking a higher dose of the Femara would help produce more follicles?? I am definitely glad that I had 2 good ones this month.. but is having like 3 or 4 fully developed more of an ideal?

Don't ask me WHY I'm even THINKING about next month- I just had a friggin IUI _ I should be thinking I'm pregnant!

LOL yes you are definitely PUPO! You won't need next month :) but for other readers the best statistics with IUI is if you have 3 follicles...anymore than 3 the statistics remain the same. Some people produce more follicles with a higher dose, some people don't. I am one of those people who don't and that's why I use Follistim. :)

lol.. love that! PUPO! I had to think for a sec what that meant but I got it

that's good to know about the 3 follicles... I had 4 but only 2 really developed apparently. I just wasn't sure if the dosage had any impact on it... I won't think about it for now I guess. Thank you my dear!

Haha already thinking of next cycle, same here and my IUIs scheduled for Monday.
Oh well guess it's good we are not going to have a meltdown if we get a BFN this month since the next is already planned?! I have already planned up to my IVF lol
I haven't tried injectables and IUI yet so am guessing I'll do that next, sigh, can't i just skip to the being pregnant part of it all?!

Just a note on the Femara dosage. In March I took 7.5 and in April I took 12.5. The difference was that things grew slower with the lower dose but the count was the same. So on 7.5 I had a 30 day cycle and ovulated around day 15. On 12.5 I ovulated on day 12 with a 23 day cycle. I had ~3 large follcles both times. Good lucky Holly!! You so deserve to get your HPT!

PCOSMom- things going ok?
